Great tackle from the midfield destroyer.

Kieran Tierney fizzes a pass into the feet of Gabriel Martinelli inside the area, the Brazilian's touch sends Virgil van Dijk the wrong way to open up the space, but compatriot Fabinho gets back to make an inch perfect sliding challenge.

    Arsenal 0-1 Liverpool (agg: 0-1)

Great run by Diogo Jota but the shot was scuffed. It was enough to beat Aaron Ramsdale, who should have done better.

Big blow to Arsenal, who had started well. Agitation and frustration among The Gunners' support.

JChester United: Harsh on Arsenal, but they should really check their boots, that goal comes from them constantly slipping over and have been doing so all game.

Stavros Makro: Terrible positioning from Ramsdale there,he's hugely responsible for the goal.

Matty AFC: Tomi and Ramsdale - two of our best performers this season - seemed to be moving in slow motion for that goal. Very disappointing but plenty of time to turn the game around.

  12. 'Ramsdale will be disappointed'published at 20:08 Greenwich Mean Time 20 January 2022

That is brilliant from Jota. He gets a little lucky with the finish and the ball trundles past Ramsdale. It is a lovely touch by Firmino to release Alexander-Arnold. He pops the ball out left; Jota keeps going after a little nutmeg on Tomiyasu. He hits a shot right footed and Ramsdale will be disappointed. There is no pace on the shot.

No away goals tonight so if the tie is level at full-time, we head to extra-time and possibly penalties too.

    Diogo Jota

    Breakthrough!

The finish is a real scruffy one but Diogo Jota will not care a jot.

Liverpool grab the opener courtesy of their reliable Portuguese forward, who totally does Takehiro Tomiyasu with a dummy before cutting inside and towards the edge of the box.

Three Arsenal defenders slide in but Jota's less-than-aesthetic strike wrong foots Aaron Ramsdale and dribbles into the back of the net.

Arsenal's fine start counts for nothing.

All of Arsenal's threat has come down their left. Liverpool have Trent Alexander-Arnold with Kaide Gordon ahead of him; Kieran Tierney and Gabriel Martinelli are certainly winning the battle in the early stages.

    Arsenal 0-0 Liverpool

    Chris Sutton

Arsenal are pinning Liverpool back. We've seen no runs in behind from the Liverpool forwards. Everything is in front of Arsenal and they are exploiting that; Lokonga sitting the deepest, Arsenal are a 4-1-4-1. Lacazette is leading the line well and the midfield four are hunting. Liverpool can't find a rhythm.
