It was a great night for Middlesbrough who fought back from a goal down to beat West Brom and go back up to sixth in the Championship table.

There were also wins in the second tier for play-off hopefuls Coventry, struggling Reading and a first away victory of the season for the league's bottom side, Barnsley.

In League One the top two Rotherham and Wigan both won and are starting to look more and more nailed on for automatic promotion.

In League Two managerless Bradford lost again and Swindon went fifth with a 5-0 success over Walsall.

Midweek action continues tomorrow evening in the Championship with six more fixtures, including leaders Fulham at home to managerless Peterborough United:

• Sheffield United v Blackburn Rovers

Bolton also claimed a 3-1 win in the late League One match against Lincoln City.

Reading withold a late barrage from Birmingham to make it back-to-back victories and a perfect start for interim boss Paul Ince.

It's also a result that puts some more daylight between them and the bottom three.

West Brom led through Jayson Molumby's first-half goal, their first strike since 22 January but goals from Paddy McNair and Marcus Tavernier turned it around.

Three defeats and a draw for Steve Bruce in his first four games in charge. Not good for the Baggies.

Barnsley have their first away win of the season and maybe, just maybe, some hope.

The bottom side did all their work in the first half with goals from Callum Styles and Carlton Morris.

However, if Reading win, as they are doing, the Tykes will remain nine points adrift of safety.

Still around 13 minutes to play and Gary Gardner tries his luck from range to try and reduce the deficit for Birmingham.

Nicely-struck shot on his right but it bounces wide of the left post via a slight deflection.

Djed Spence gets in for the visitors but his cross misses everyone.

As it stands it's going to be five defeats in six for Albion and they'll be six points adrift of the play-offs.
