West Brom have let Swansea play in their own defensive third for the most part tonight, but they almost capitalise as the visitors get themselves in a mess on the edge of their own box.

After Flynn Downes' loose touch, Grady Diangana feeds Jayson Molumby but his drive is well blocked by Ryan Manning.

This is even more stale than the first half. I shouldn't be saying this at this stage of the season but it looks like a pre-season friendly.

  3. Postpublished at 56 mins

West Bromwich Albion 0-0 Swansea City

It is still early in this second half, but not much has changed compared to the first period thus far.

Both sides continue to crave a moment of attacking inspiration.

West Brom do not look comfortable at the back. You can really see why they're struggling at the moment, but Swansea aren't making them pay for it. They've got to take some initiative.

Swansea enjoy a long spell of possession, racking up the passes as West Brom sit off.

When Ryan Manning looks to pick out Cyrus Christie, he is caught offside.

Swansea have now gone past the seven-hour mark since they last scored away from home.

  7. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 49 mins

West Bromwich Albion 0-0 Swansea City

Chance for Swansea as Cyrus Christie's pass deflects into the path of Joel Piroe.

With the angle tight, his shot hits the outside of the post and goes behind for a goal-kick.

Ben Cabango catches Andy Carroll with a raised arm. It looks like a palm to the face rather than an elbow.

Either way, the referee takes no action.

  9. KICK-OFFpublished at 46 mins

West Bromwich Albion 0-0 Swansea City

We are under way in the second half.

West Brom have made a change at the break, with Darnell Furlong on for Dara O'Shea.

They've just played a pop classic here during the half-time break at The Hawthorns - It's My Life by Talk Talk.

And apart from getting my feet tapping on a cold night, it left me thinking that there must be a lot of Talk Talking going on right now in the home dressing room.

The Albion midfield are not seeing enough of the ball, which means that not enough is being created for big Andy Carroll up front. As a result, he has had his least effective 45 minutes so far for the Baggies - and his team-mates simply have to get him in the game more.

But he has already shown since he got here that he still has the legs - and, given his scoring record against Swansea, and with Grady Diangana showing he has the beating of his marker, there is hope for Albion.

  11. Swans right in the contestpublished at 20:55 Greenwich Mean Time 28 February 2022

HT: West Bromwich Albion 0-0 Swansea City

Swansea improved as an attacking force in the closing stages of that first period.

An increase in tempo in the final third might help Russell Martin's side - though they will be happy, to some extent, just to be on level terms.

Their last three away days, after all, have ended in defeats to Sheffield United (4-0), Stoke (3-0) and Hull (2-0).

They remain right in this contest at the halfway point.

    Andy Robinson

That wasn't the greatest half from Swansea's point of view. They weren't playing with conviction and West Brom's Callum Robinson hitting the post was the only effort worth remembering.

The manager needs to get hold of his team, make sure they take some initiative and seize the game because it has been very flat so far.

  13. Can West Brom avoid unwanted treble?published at 20:52 Greenwich Mean Time 28 February 2022

HT: West Bromwich Albion 0-0 Swansea City

West Brom have not scored in their last two home games.

They have not gone three Hawthorns fixtures without finding the target at this level since Gary Megson was in charge, back in 2003.

Steve Bruce's side came closest to a first-half breakthrough through Callum Robinson, while Grady Diangana has caused Swansea problems.

But so far at least, Andy Carroll has had little to work with against the team he has so often scored against over the years.

  15. HALF-TIME - West Bromwich Albion 0-0 Swansea Citypublished at 20:46 Greenwich Mean Time 28 February 2022

That was not a half that will live too long in the memory.

Two sides who have struggled to score goals all season did not often look like scoring a goal, although Callum Robinson did hit the Swansea post.

Now a decent run from Jamie Paterson, but his shot is easily gathered by Sam Johnstone.

Swansea produce another sweet move as Joel Piroe picks out Hannes Wolf.

He exchanges passes with Jamie Paterson but his shot is blocked.

The Swans come forward again as Ryan Manning crosses deep for Cyrus Christie, whose header is pushed away by Sam Johnstone.

That is the best effort of the game. Matt Grimes had no real right to hit the ball from there but it just curls past the post.

The only bit of conviction we've seen from Swansea so far.
