  1. CLOSE!published at 20:33 Greenwich Mean Time 2 February 2022

    Barnsley 0-0 Cardiff

Half-chance for Barnsley as we approach half-time.

It's a Callum Styles corner and Liam Kitching gets his swede to it but nods wide - the defender might arguably have done better there.

  2. Postpublished at 44 mins

    Huddersfield 0-0 Derby

Nathan Byrne just showed Richard Stearman how it's done.

Duane Holmes looks set to pull the trigger for Huddersfield after some neat passing in the box but Byrne launches into a perfectly-timed challenge to win the ball fairly.

There will be three minutes added.

    Huddersfield 0-0 Derby

A good run from full-back Lee Buchanan invites a poor challenge from a Huddersfield man and buys Derby a free-kick in midfield and, more importantly, some time to breathe.

  4. CLOSE!published at 41 mins

    Huddersfield 0-0 Derby

    Oh what a lovely move.

Lewis O'Brien touches Harry Toffolo's cross beautifully into Duane Holmes' path - he's one-on-one with Ryan Allsop but flicks his finish wide.

I thought the keeper got a glove on that but no corner is given. Holmes thought so too.

  5. YELLOW CARDpublished at 20:26 Greenwich Mean Time 2 February 2022

    Barnsley 0-0 Cardiff

Home midfielder Callum Styles is being singled out for, shall we say, special treatment from the Cardiff players.

Mark McGuinness is the latest Bluebird to foul him and is promptly booked.

    Huddersfield 0-0 Derby

What you don't want when down to 10 men is your keeper messing about 25 yards from goal.

Ryan Allsop gets rid of it just in time. Five minutes until half-time for Derby to hold out.

    Huddersfield 0-0 Derby

A point would take Huddersfield fourth in the table - but their fans want all three and are getting on the Terriers' backs a bit here.

Town looked dominant for a good 15 minutes after Richard Stearman's red card but appear to have somewhat run out of ideas since.

    Barnsley 0-0 Cardiff

    Worth a go!

The ref plays advantage as Barnsley's Callum Styles is hauled down and the ball breaks for Devante Cole, whose shot from range isn't too far wide.

The Tykes should take confidence from this.

    Huddersfield 0-0 Derby

You've got to admire this Derby side. Everything they've had thrown at them this season, most had them written off as relegation certainties but they refuse to buckle.

They are really acquitting themselves well here. Festy Ebesole whips in a lovely ball from the left wing but it's just too high for the two Derby men in the middle.

There was only one goal in last night's two Championship games - surely we will get more than that tonight?

But it's still goalless at both Barnsley and Huddersfield with half an hour gone.

  11. Postpublished at 20:20 Greenwich Mean Time 2 February 2022

    Barnsley 0-0 Cardiff

Here come Barnsley again - there's certainly plenty of effort on show.

The hosts earn three corners in a row but can't register an effort of note to test Alex Smithies.

Cardiff go to Anfield on Sunday to face Liverpool in the FA Cup. This hasn't been their best showing thus far and Steve Morison will want to make sure their minds aren't elsewhere.

  12. Postpublished at 32 mins

    Huddersfield 0-0 Derby

Panic in the Derby back-line as a long ball puts Danny Ward in the clear and Rams keeper Ryan Allsop comes to the edge of the box to confront him.

He makes a good block, the keeper - but the offside flag is up. Late, as is the fashion nowadays.

  13. CLOSE!published at 30 mins

    Huddersfield 0-0 Derby

The best effort of the game so far - and it's from Derby!

Huddersfield are lax in possession in their own half and Tom Lawrence beats a defender smartly before finding Louie Sibley just inside the box.

Sibley takes a touch and drills a shot across Lee Nicholls' goal and inches wide. Unlucky that - and a reminder to Huddersfield that Derby still pose a danger.

  14. Postpublished at 29 mins

    Huddersfield 0-0 Derby

Arguably, Huddersfield's best chance yet as Sorba Thomas whips in a nice corner for Tom Lees coming in at the far post.

But he can't quite crane his neck muscles enough to direct the header back on target and it goes wide.

  15. Postpublished at 28 mins

    Huddersfield 0-0 Derby

Corner count building now for Huddersfield.

Derby getting a bit nervy at the back.

  16. Postpublished at 27 mins

    Huddersfield 0-0 Derby

A few youngsters in Derby's side tonight but they have stood up well to the challenge of being down to 10 men since the fourth minute.

Keeper Ryan Allsop really hasn't had much to do.

Richard Stearman tackleImage source, PA Media

Suspect Derby won't be appealing the Stearman sending-off and subsequent suspension.

And if they do, they certainly won't use this pic as Exhibit A in their defence.

His leg's higher than a Strictly routine.

  18. Postpublished at 20:09 Greenwich Mean Time 2 February 2022

    Barnsley 0-0 Cardiff

Cardiff midfielder Tommy Doyle, on loan from Manchester City, has had a couple of sighters from outside the box, but nothing to trouble home keeper Brad Collins.

Barnsley started brightly but the Welsh side are seizing control now.

    Huddersfield 0-0 Derby

Tom Lawrence was hobbling around a few seconds ago but seems ok.

That's all Derby would need - to lose their skipper, already being down to 10 men.

    Wayne RooneyImage source, PA Media

Both bosses have done fabulous jobs this season by the way.

Wayne Rooney's efforts in saving Derby from the job have been well-documented but Carlos Corberan has been equally impressive in leading an unexpected Huddersfield promotion push.

Another clumsy Derby challenge gives Huddersfield a free-kick in the Rams' half.
