It's really good pressing by England. Germany are in these tight spaces and they can't get out and England are forcing them back. That's something Sarina Wiegman has put into this side - very, very defensively solid.

Germany are seeing plenty of the ball, but England are right on top of them at every turn. The hosts are not allowing them any time to think or space to exploit.

Germany try to patiently build their latest attack on the right. Some neat passes eventually sets Lina Magull free, but Jessica Carter is back to block the cross.

Ellie Roebuck has to be alert as Klara Buhl is played into the area and fizzes in a low cross. Roebuck intervenes by thrusting out an arm.

England with the corner now. Lauren Hemp tries to step past Maximiliane Rall, but stopped in her tracks.

The corner is cleared and Germany are on the attack again.

The combination between Georgia Stanway and Fran Kirby is brilliant. When you give Ellen White the service she is so reliable. Great first touch with her left foot, opens up the chance and it's a tidy finish six-yards out.

England 1, Germany nil - I love saying that scoreline!

The initial effort is just about dealt with. But again Germany come at them and a shot from the edge of the area is blocked.

Germany with another corner, this time it is Lucy Bronze who bumps Giulia Gwinn off the ball to concede it.

Wow. England are leading Germany on home soil and the crowd are singing "Sweet Caroline".

Fran Kirby got a bit lucky with the ricochet off Germany midfielder Jana Feldkamp but Ellen White was never missing from there.

It took the game 10 minutes but it's exploded in the last few minutes!

England were almost their own downfall with those chances for Maximiliane Rall and Lina Magull.

But they responded really well and that was a brilliant chance for Fran Kirby.

England now have two big chances.

The first is a cut-back pass that fails to find anyone in the box. The danger is not cleared and Frank Kirby has a fierce low shot saved.

England are living dangerously. Goalkeeper Ellie Roebuck tries to play the ball out and Lina Magull has a free chance fall to her. Roebuck, however, makes the save. A big let off.

It's a nice delivery and Maximiliane Rall sends a header straight at Ellie Roebuck. That was a free header.

Germany have the first corner of the game. Leah Williamson got a boot in to block a cross to concede the corner.

What can Germany do?

Germany's Maximiliane Rall has been kept really busy in this opening 10 minutes.

Jessica Carter is the latest to test her resolve. So far Rall has been equal to everything asked of her.

A give and go from Lucy Bronze draws a roar from the home crowd.

She is off in a flash down the right, but Sophie Kleinherne deals with danger and sends the ball out for a throw in.

Historically, there's always been a mental block against Germany. But in 2015 that was eradicated, there was a big shift, and from that moment on England have firmly cemented themselves as a top nation and a real force at major tournaments.

It's a big test tonight. A very, very young, good German side. One that I've very really enjoyed watching during this tournament.
