Roy Hodgson is done with his pitchside interviews now and almost blows away before he heads down the tunnel.

Sean Dyche is kicking off his press conference and begins by saying again that these were the worst conditions he's ever seen at Turf Moor.

New Watford boss Roy Hodgson jokes: "I'm realistic enough to know that as happy as I was to take up the offer, there will be plenty of times I will think 'what on earth am I doing?' And I'll deal with those when they come."

  6. 'Clean sheet is significant'published at 20:18 Greenwich Mean Time 5 February 2022

    FT: Burnley 0-0 Watford

    Watford

Watford manager Roy Hodgson: "It's a really difficult place to come. I don't think many will look forward to games against Burnley. I thought we probably did enough today to come away with a victory. I'm pleased with the way the players went about their work. They showed great spirit, great determination and I think they showed everybody that they still care very much and they rolled their sleeves up. If you don't work hard here at Burnley, you get nothing."

On the clean sheet: "It is signficant. We know unless we defend in the way we did today - being compact and aggressive in our pressing - then you won't get clean sheets in the Premier League. I thought this was a stern test after only 10 days with the players and I thought they dealt with it very well."

On the penalty shout: "I know the players close to the incident felt it was but from where I was, on the other side of the field, I couldn't see. It's one of those things that happen in football. You have to get over those injustices. I think the players at Watford deserve an awful lot of praise in that respect today."

On the relegation battle: "When you fall behind in this league you are playing catch-up. The only way to recover is win matches. We are not underestimating the task. It has given me a lot of encouyragement that this time does have the fight, the ability to organise themselves and come away from Burnley with points."

  7. 'Conditions were awful'published at 20:13 Greenwich Mean Time 5 February 2022

    FT: Burnley 0-0 Watford

    Burnley

Burnley captain Ben Mee: "It was a tight game. Conditions were awful so it didn't make for a great game, quality-wise. Both teams were going at it but we both saw the game out. It's a clean sheet so it's something to build on.

"A bit of experience always helps. Having been there before does help. We want to get ourselves out of this situation and not rely on that of course."

  8. 'It would have been odd'published at 20:11 Greenwich Mean Time 5 February 2022

    FT: Burnley 0-0 Watford

More from Sean Dyche on Watford's penalty shout: "It would have been a strange one because everyone had cleared the bench and most were in the dressing room so I don't know what would have happened.

    "That would have been odd!"

  9. 'We know the position we're in'published at 20:09 Greenwich Mean Time 5 February 2022

    FT: Burnley 0-0 Watford

    Burnley

Burnley manager Sean Dyche to MOTD: "Both teams tried to play in these conditions and this is probably as bad as I've seen it!

"I thought we started brightly, lost our way a little at the end of the first half then regained it again in the second half. Maxwel Cornet has not played much for weeks and obviously Wout Weghorst is new so they are connections which will hopefully develop."

On Wout Weghorst's debut: "I think he did fine. A couple of chances you would fancy him to take when he settles but I'm sure he will very quickly. He's had a quiet game by his standards but we didn't expect miracles from him. He will get that sharpness. We know how much of a good player he is."

On the next few fixtures: "We have to play them all and we know the position we're in. It's important we change these draws into wins. We play two top sides next but that's the way it goes.

"We've been strong in the second half of the season historically but we have to go and do that again. We're one point better off than we were at this stage last year. which might not sound a lot, but it may be crucial come the end of the season."

  10. 'Welcome to England'published at 20:05 Greenwich Mean Time 5 February 2022

    FT: Burnley 0-0 Watford

    Burnley

Burnley forward Wout Weghorst on his debut: "I loved it. The only thing missing was the three points. A draw is a result but not what we were hoping for. For me personally, the first game, the stadium and everything was a great experience.

"It's another style of football, quite direct, you can say it like that! I will just try to adapt to it and give everything for the team to help the squad. It wasn't enough for a win today.

"I had a great opportunity in the second half but the defender came in really well and blocked it. We had possibilities but it wasn't enough.

"Yeah, the guys said 'welcome to England!' I will get used to it, no problem."

  12. 'We'll take the point'published at 19:59 Greenwich Mean Time 5 February 2022

    FT: Burnley 0-0 Watford

    Watford

Watford defender Craig Cathcart: "We knew it would be a difficult game coming here and it was difficult with the weather so we'll take it and go back home with a point.

"We did well to deal with the weather and we did the basics well I think. We needed to be more compact as a team and I think that showed tonight as we managed to keep that clean sheet. Going forward it will be good. We created chances going forward as well.

"It stops a little bit of a rot for us. We get a clean sheet and a point and there's a quick turnaround before the next game now."

  13. 'I can't feel my forehead'published at 19:57 Greenwich Mean Time 5 February 2022

    FT: Burnley 0-0 Watford

    Watford

Watford goalkeeper Ben Foster: "It was a nervy game. The quality just wasn't there today as everybody was on tender hooks. The conditions were hard today. I can't feel my forehead! It won't live long in the memory I don't think."

On keeping a clean sheet: "It's been a while! I think we've had about six managers in that time. It's always nice to keep a clean sheet we just need to find that bit of quality in front of goal."

On Roy Hodgson: "I've worked with Roy Hodgson before and I'll take that all day long. Everyone knows their jobs. He gets you set-up and organised we just need that quality in front of goal.

"We know we have quality in our team. The team spirit is there and the unity has always been there. We just didn't put those chances in the back of the net."

It's not done too much to change the standings in the league. Both sides remain in the bottom three but Watford have jumped above Newcastle on goal difference.

The crucial bit for Burnley is that they still have a couple of games in hand.
