  2. Alexander takes issue with Donnelly dismissalpublished at 22:43 Greenwich Mean Time 26 January 2022

    FT: Motherwell 0-0 Hibernian

Motherwell manager Graham Alexander has "a sense of pride" in his team. "Hibs are a very good team and I can't remember them having too many chances," he tells BBC Sportsound.

"After going down to 10 men we had to dig in and be disciplined to see out a good clean sheet and a point.

"I don't think it's a second yellow (for Liam Donnelly). It's just a foul and he could have had a warning. That's where my frustration is."

On his own red card, Alexander says he was "harshly dealt with".

  3. Maloney aims to build on positive startpublished at 22:39 Greenwich Mean Time 26 January 2022

    FT: Motherwell 0-0 Hibernian

"It was a really difficult match but I'm really pleased with how we played," says Hibs manager Shaun Maloney. "I thought we controlled large parts against a team above us in the table, created more than enough chances really.

"With the terrible conditions, I almost demanded more. We had to keep the ball on the ground as much as possible.

"It's only been six weeks for me and it's been a really good start. But it's just a start and we have to build from that."

  4. Dundee commitment pleases McPakepublished at 22:35 Greenwich Mean Time 26 January 2022

    FT: St Johnstone 0-0 Dundee

Dundee manager James McPake tells BBC Scotland: "We had a few moments of quality and another night could have won.

"I'm not happy with a point, I wanted all three to create a bigger gap on St Johnstone.

"But there wasn't much in the game and we've shown commitment. People were right to question that last week, but tonight it was there and we were just unfortunate that we couldn't convert a chance."

  5. Davidson takes positives from pointpublished at 22:31 Greenwich Mean Time 26 January 2022

    FT: St Johnstone 0-0 Dundee

St Johnstone manager Callum Davidson tells BBC Scotland: "We had to give the supporters something and we worked really hard in difficult conditions.

"For 80 minutes we put a real good show in.

"I'm not sure about easing the pressure, but it's a start. I told the players what I wanted and they delivered, apart from winning the game.

"I'll take that positive and I need it every week from them."

  6. Mackay rues penalty decisionspublished at 22:24 Greenwich Mean Time 26 January 2022

FT: Dundee United 2-1 Ross County

Ross County manager Malky Mackay tells BBC Radio Scotland: "It’s a measure of where we’ve come, a Ross County team that goes anywhere and looks as though they can win. I’m disappointed to not at least be going home with a point.

"It’s where I want the team to get to, they’ve got confidence to go anywhere in this league, go toe-to-toe and score goals."

On Ross County's two failed penalty claims, both for handball, Mackay said: "I didn’t see a replay of the one at the end. I asked the referee purely for clarity and he said the ball hit the player’s chest. I accept that. We should have put it in the net.

"Someone has sent me the picture of Dylan Levitt’s hand being as wide as you can get it to the side of his body when the ball hits his hand (in the first half). I don’t see how that is a natural position in the box. If you’re going to give the one he does give against us, you are just looking for parity.

"I just don’t see it, but it’s done and we move on."

  7. 'We allowed Celtic to be good' - Neilsonpublished at 22:19 Greenwich Mean Time 26 January 2022

    FT: Hearts 1-2 Celtic

Hearts boss Robbie Neilson tells BBC Sportsound: "We started the first 10 minutes really well. Celtic are very good, but we allowed them to be after that period.

"It was a game of two halves. Bringing [Ellis] Simms on gave us a bit of a link up top. Giving him 45 minutes, the players can see what he brings. I think he will be a top player for us."

The Hearts boss adds that the calls to allow both Giorgos Giakoumakis' and Liam Boyce's goals were "bad decisions" from the linesman.

Neilson then goes on to say that, with Craig Halkett and Michael Smith limping off injured, it will take "a big bid" to take John Souttar to Rangers in what remains of this transfer window.

  8. 'We looked like ourselves again' - Courtspublished at 22:14 Greenwich Mean Time 26 January 2022

FT: Dundee United 2-1 Ross County

Dundee United boss Tam Courts tells BBC Radio Scotland: "The first 45 minutes, we looked a lot like ourselves again. There was an intensity and urgency and we could have been 2-0 or 3-0 up.

"We got sucker-punched a bit and you could feel the energy on the pitch, the players thinking, 'gee, here we go again'. We had to be brave with substitutions and tactical changes and thankfully got our just rewards.

On matchwinner Nicky Clark, Courts added: "Nicky has been tremendous for me this year. We’ve played a formation with the personnel available to us, where he's been the spearhead of the front three.

"That is not his best position, but we can now allow him to ghost into positions, he was in the perfect position to score his header."

Courts also revealed United may add to their squad before the January window shuts.

"We have targets identified. That will largely be dependent on who leaves, whether that be young players going on loan or a senior player exiting for more game time. We are agile to whatever happens."

It wasn't pretty but we shouldn't be surprised. These are two teams that have really struggled to find any kind of form. I suppose, in a way, both managers will be happy because they have stopped the rot

  10. Postecoglou hails 'fantastic' Celticpublished at 22:06 Greenwich Mean Time 26 January 2022

    FT: Hearts 1-2 Celtic

Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou is a happy man as he talks to BBC Sportsound.

"It was a cracking game," he says. "I'm super-pleased and very proud of the players.

"We had some challenges in terms of personnel but credit to the players, they were fantastic. We played well, created a lot of opportunities and probably should have killed the game off a bit earlier.

"In the end, we had to defend a bit and we did that well. We've had this resilience and grit for a while now."

There were strong hints of offside for Celtic's second goal and the Hearts goal but Postecoglou says: "I don't think the referee decided this game. We decided it with our performance.

"It's not a precise science unless we bring in VAR. It (VAR) will help, but then that leads to arguments too."

  11. Clark savours starring rolepublished at 21:59 Greenwich Mean Time 26 January 2022

FT: Dundee United 2-1 Ross County

Dundee United's two-goal hero Nicky Clark tells BBC Radio Scotland: "We showed great character and it’s a massive result. You saw by the reaction at the end. We need to keep going.

"Ross County are a good defensive side. We stayed calm, didn’t rush things, put the ball in the box at the right moment.

"We’ve got great attacking options and I was disappointed to start on the bench, but to come on and get two goals was great."
