That injury has come at a bad time for Jarrod Bowen.

West Ham play Sevilla on Thursday and the following week England manager Gareth Southgate names his squad and the former Hull man was tipped to be in it.

On the evidence of him being helped down the tunnel just then, it is difficult to imagine Bowen being involved in either.

A nice little spell of possession for Liverpool. Sadio Mane finds Luis Diaz but the Reds new boy can't get it under control.

I'm not sure why they didn't get a stretcher on for Jarrod Bowen. It's taken him over a minute to walk off. That can't be good for him.

Jarrod Bowen looks in some amount of pain. He's been helped off while hobbling and that's his day done.

In-form Jarrod Bowen is getting treatment on a leg injury after being tackled by Andy Robertson.

Bowen has played in each of West Ham’s last 79 Premier League matches. In this game he surpassed Steve Potts (April 1994-March 1996) as the player to appear in the most Premier League games consecutively for the Hammers.

Trent Alexander-Arnold wants a goal to go with his assist and goalline clearance but his half-volley on the bounce spins into the gloves of Lukasz Fabianski.

Virgil van Dijk heads a long ball into the path of Jarrod Bowen and just as he's about to shoot, Robertson gets a tackle in. And even better for Liverpool, it's a goal-kick.

Jordan Henderson's cross from the right is overhit and Luis Diaz fails to do much with it at the other side.

The second half begins. Can West Ham come back? They did have chances in the first half.

Norwich City

Norwich City manager Dean Smith speaking to BBC Sport: "I thought we played well first half. We were the aggressors. We knew they would be dangerous from set-pieces.

"Football is about moments and decision making. Brandon Williams gets fouled from behind in the penalty box and there's nothing given. It's a stone-wall penalty. I can see why the [first Brentford] penalty is given, Ben Gibson shouldn't have his boot that high - but Gibson doesn't make contact with Ivan Toney for the second penalty."

On VAR: "We played eight minutes at the end there because of waiting for all the VAR decisions. It was a bad day at the office for the officials unfortunately - and we've made some bad decisions in our penalty box.

"We will go away and discuss what we need to get better at. I can understand the disappointment of the supporters. We need them more than anything now. We felt Brentford was a side we could catch and we've had that taken away from us today. Big moments went against us."

Brentford

Brentford manager Thomas Frank speaking to Sky Sports: "Of course it is a big relief, no doubt about that. I'm very happy with the performance and the approach we had to the match.

"I'm pleased that we were strong on set-pieces to give us that first goal. I thought it was good, solid, but I don't think it was much better than a lot of matches we had earlier this year when we didn't get a point. The message is keep doing the right things and things will turn.

"It says a lot about the character. Ivan [Toney], not only because of his three goals, Pontus Jansson was amazing today. Christian Eriksen is in with his coolness and experience."

On hat-trick scorer Toney: "For me he is the best penalty take in the world. We knew Tim [Krul] would do that [try to take the ball away from Toney] and when Tim went to go towards him Ivan just turned around."

On Eriksen's full debut: "We knew that we needed to build Christian right. He needed three weeks training with the team but his physical foundations were really good. You need to be out there, go the 90 and feel fatigued. He's a light runner so that helps a lot. It will take a few more games before he reaches the top standards he can provide. You can see he just has that extra magic that no doubt will help us."

Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace boss Patrick Vieira told BBC Match of the Day: “It was the perfect performance away from home. We were really solid, created a lot of chances. I’m really pleased with the attitude, character and organisation we showed today.

"That is the best 45 minutes we have played since I have been at the football club and it is important for us to build on the last couple of games. Today it was not just about the result it was about the performance, and the performance was really good.

"We know we are capable of playing good football but we weren’t consistent enough so far. So the challenge is to be demanding of ourselves and our team-mates to keep playing as well as we did today and keep winning games.

"It will be difficult, but we are happy with what we have been doing at the moment and consistency will be really important for us."

Wolves

Wolves boss Bruno Lage to Sky Sports: “We gave them 45 minutes in advance. It was about the duals.

"It was so simple for Crystal Palace. They won the duals, were aggressive with the ball and when we suffered with the goals it was so easy.

"When you play against these teams its more about what we did in the second half. We need to move the ball fast and we need to win the duals, and the big difference is we lost all the duals, especially in the first half

"When you looked at what we did in second half it was a little bit better. When you play against these teams you have to have that mentality and courage to play our game.

"We have lost three games in a row and we are still in the same position so it means we did something good since we arrived.

"The main thing is we need to grow up when we play these kind of teams and understand how we play against these teams. They are very hard to play against, they did well and deserved the three points.”
