    Luis Diaz (21 mins)

Joel Matip plays a brilliant pass over to Luis Diaz and he gets there ahead of Robert Sanchez to bravely nod it into an empty net.

Sanchez absolutely smashes into Diaz in the follow through and he's hurt.

Liverpool's players don't celebrate as they go straight over to Diaz, who is receiving treatment.

    Brighton 0-0 Liverpool

    Tony Pulis
Former Stoke manager on BBC Radio 5 Live

Sadio Mane is dropping into midfield and Liverpool are bouncing passes off him. He’s not playing like a centre-forward.

That’s why Brighton need to be very careful. If Liverpool get it right, nine times out of ten they’ll score at the end of it.

Naby Keita can't bring down a bobbling ball on the edge of the box and Steven Alzate's touch takes it away from Mohamed Salah.

  5. 'Maupey should score'published at 12:45 Greenwich Mean Time 12 March 2022

    Brighton 0-0 Liverpool

    Tony Pulis
Former Stoke manager on BBC Radio 5 Live

Brighton have had a really good start. I think Neal Maupey should score with that header – it’s a great opportunity for him to at least hit the target.

Brighton’s two midfielders have to play very, very carefully when they’re in possession, otherwise Liverpool will strike on the counter.

Don't be fooled with the Brighton start. Liverpool have a charmed existence and watch them score with their first chance and Brighton squander their chances.

Luis Diaz looks sharp. He gets it from Andy Robertson and tries to play a one-two with Sadio Mane but the return pass is too heavy.

He'd have been in behind on the left.

    OOH.

Seconds after that header from Neal Maupay, he fizzes a really dangerous shot past Alisson's right post.

Inches. Liverpool allowed him far too much space!

Brighton have started well. Solly March picks out Tariq Lamptey in the middle and he curls it into Neal Maupay.

It's a bit too high for the striker and he heads it way over.

Luiz Diaz has come into the Premier League and just fitted in at that club.

He looks like a Liverpool player. He has great pace. He never wants to pass the ball backwards - always wants to play one-twos and go forward.

That’s the way Liverpool are. Jurgen Klopp has recruited incredibly well.

    Fara Williams
Former Liverpool and England midfielder on Football Focus

In terms of Liverpool’s fire power going forward, it’s frightening. It’s frightening for any team to come up against.

And then they’ve got the stability at the back with Joel Matip when he is fit and Virgil van Dijk.

They are solid, they don’t concede many goals which allows them to be so explosive in attack.
