    Brighton v Liverpool (12:30 GMT)

    Alan Shearer
Former England striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

Brighton are two points off being in the top half of the table – let’s put things in perspective.

They're in a great position for this stage of the season. If they pick up three points this afternoon, they’re in the top half. For me, that’s a very, very good achievement.

Brighton are unbeaten in three Premier League meetings (W1, D2).

However, Liverpool have not lost in eight top-flight trips to Brighton (W4, D4), a record for the most away games without losing against a particular opponent.

  4. 'A complex performance needed'published at 12:18 Greenwich Mean Time 12 March 2022

    Brighton v Liverpool (12:30 GMT)

    Liverpool

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp speaking to BT Sport: "Now it's a different game, different opponent but of course we had parts [against Inter Milan] we didn't like and parts that were good. It's just about finding the rhythm and the right mindset for the next opponent which is Brighton, who are pretty challenging.

"We don't have a defending problem but we can have one against Brighton in moments if we don't defend properly and compact. There is a good chance to cause them problems as well which is why we are here. We will have the ball hopefully. Brighton are good in possession which will be a challenge as well so a complex performance is needed."

More on Brighton: "Good. Really good! They will be very interesting. It's possible they play five at the back or with a diamond. They are very flexible. They will have used their time in the week properly. It's difficult for us but we will try."

  6. 'Brighton haven't got the goalscorers they need'published at 12:13 Greenwich Mean Time 12 March 2022

    Brighton v Liverpool (12:30 GMT)

    Tony Pulis
Former Stoke manager on BBC Radio 5 Live

Brighton play some tremendous football and they look really good as a team, it’s just the most important bit – putting the ball in the back of the net.

They had a great start to the season, but they’ve just dropped off a bit because they’re not scoring goals. They just haven’t got the goalscorers they need to win football matches.

  8. 'I don't see them holding out'published at 12:08 Greenwich Mean Time 12 March 2022

    Brighton v Liverpool (12:30 GMT)

    Mark Lawrenson
    BBC football expert

Brighton drew 2-2 at Anfield at the end of October and could easily have won it.

I don't think the Seagulls pose the same threat now, though. They have lost four in a row, and only scored one goal in that run of defeats.

Yes, they can keep the ball pretty well but I don't see them holding out for 90 minutes against Liverpool, not with the way Jurgen Klopp's side are playing at the moment.

    Prediction: 0-2

Burnley are unbeaten in six league meetings (W4, D2) and have five wins in a row against Brentford in all competitions.

Brentford have won just once in their last nine games against Burnley (D2, L6).

The Clarets could complete a league double over Brentford for just the second time in their history.

  10. 'In a period of pain'published at 12:02 Greenwich Mean Time 12 March 2022

    Brighton v Liverpool (12:30 GMT)

    Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton manager Graham Potter speaking to BT Sport: "Those results [against Liverpool previously] give us a little bit of confidence and belief but we know it doesn't count too much. You have to earn the right.

"Liverpool have world-class players and they have done a fantastic job over the last few years so we're under no illusions but we have competed before and we have to do it again.

"Sometimes you have to go through these periods of pain in a season which we are doing now and we have to try and turn that around.

"Arguably they are one of the best teams in the world. So you know in every area they are strong - from the keeper to the forwards. We have to play well, be positive, aggressive and play to our strengths."
