Nothing could separate the two strugglers then, as Peterborough and Reading share a point each.

Our next live text sees us looking up, as two promotion rivals Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest go up against each other down in Boscombe on Friday night.

Not too long to wait for your EFL fix. See you then.

Who benefits from this? Well, if one of them stays up by a point come the end of the season, they'll take it.

But in terms of immediate boost, in terms of pushing a rival into the mire and lifting your own situation, not much value.

It stops the rot for Reading and it's better than a defeat. Two poor teams playing in really poor conditions.

It was a horrible game, tense, ugly.

A point away from home is not too bad.

So honours even in a stalemate which does neither of these two Championship sides any favours in their battle against the drop.

Peterborough had chances denied by Reading goalkeeper Karl Hein, while Michael Morrison twice cleared off the line - their goal drought continues too.

Reading had some excellent chances without the performance they wanted, Lucas Joao should have buried it when he was one on one with the excellent Steven Benda, while John Swift put his header straight at the keeper.

Posh in the relegation places still, Reading just outside.

Somehow Steven Benda wraps the ball up, from John Swift's free-kick.

Took two bites to do it.

    Might be it.

Darren Ferguson looks hugely frustrated. He's also done his dad's old trick of pointing at the watch.

Reading threaten down the left, John Swift fouled by Nathan Thompson.

    Danger here for Posh.

  7. YELLOW CARDpublished at 90 mins

    Time ticking. Another booking.

Ricky Jade Jones chopped the ball away from trouble but as he did, he was poleaxed by Andy Yiadom. Booking for the Reading man.

    Three minutes added on.

The Peterborough keeper has done well - he's impressed me.

  9. YELLOW CARDpublished at 89 mins

Tom Dele-Bashiru is crudely sent tumbling as Reading broke, and Nathan Thompson picks up a booking for bringing him down.

(NEARLY) CHAMPAGNE MOMENTpublished at 86 mins

    Peterborough 0-0 Reading

Lucas Joao schemes his way past a string of defenders for Reading, wrongfooting his markers and it opens up for him.

Mesmerising footwork and body swerve, but when faced one-on-one with the goalkeeper Steven Benda, he fires straight at him.

He made Posh's defenders look daft though.

  11. Postpublished at 84 mins

Danny Drinkwater crosses for Reading, but Lucas Joao can't guide it flick on to a teammate, and Posh cope with it.

Will there be a decider? Time is ticking.

  12. CLOSE!published at 81 mins

    Peterborough 0-0 Reading

Josh Knight heads over the bar from a metre out! Great ball in from Joe Ward again for Peterborough.

Baba Rahman handled on the edge of the box for the Posh free-kick, and Ward again put in the dangerous cross.

Jonson Clarke Harris is off and Callum Morton is on for Posh, Tom Dele-Bashiru is on for Reading's Yakou Meite.

He did it very coolly. His heart would have been in his mouth. Terrific from Michael Morrison.

  14. CLOSE!published at 80 mins

CLEARED OFF THE LINE BY MICHAEL MORRISON.

Joe Ward goes for goal after pinball, but Reading get it away somehow!

His initial free-kick causes panic, the second cross causes panic.

    PANIC.

  15. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 79 mins

    Pitch invader is on.

Unfortunately the steward who is trying to sort it out just slipped twice.

Meanwhile, Posh switch Kwame Poku for the highly-rated Ricky Jade Jones.

The Peterborough fans are getting a bit tetchy

  17. Postpublished at 77 mins

    Peterborough 0-0 Reading

Reading shift the ball about the edge of the Posh box, looking for an opening, and eventually Andy Yiadom stands up a cross in the box.

The wind drags the ball all over the shop, Lucas Joao can't connect and eventually it's cleared.

    Just wouldn't fall.

  18. Postpublished at 74 mins

    Peterborough 0-0 Reading

John Swift connects in the box with a perfect Baba Rahman cross, strains his neck muscles, but the header goes into the midriff of diving Posh keeper Steven Benda.

Posh break, Jack Marriott is slid in by Kwame Poku, but out comes Karl Hein to make a huge block.

Corner is dangerous, but eventually cleared.

  19. Postpublished at 72 mins

    Peterborough 0-0 Reading

Jonson Clarke-Harris gets to a diagonal from Frankie Kent on the edge of the Reading box, but his knock-down to the lurking Jack Marriott bounces just behind the sub.

    So close.

It looks like a fruitful option though, as Clarke-Harris has done that graft well tonight.

  20. Postpublished at 71 mins

    Peterborough 0-0 Reading

Skiddy low effort from Jack Marriott from the edge of the box for Peterborough, but it's well off-target.

It was almost as if he got caught in two minds last minute between shot and pass, and it was neither of them really to any effect.
