Midweek action returns in the Championship on Wednesday and there are seven more fixtures in store, with the race for the play-off places set to intensify.

Blackburn climb up to fourth with a much-needed win while Middlesbrough climb back into the top six with their win at Birmingham.

Barnsley's victory against Bristol City closes the gap between them and survival to two points.

It could've have been even closer had Reading not found a late equaliser at Bournemouth.

Derby's defeat by Blackburn could be costly in more ways than one while Birmingham City losing at home to Middlesbrough doesn't exactly put them out of the woods yet.

• Leaders Rotherham hold on to secure a 2-1 victory at home to Lincoln.
• Second-place Wigan pick up all three points from their visit to Crewe, winning 2-0.
• Plymouth move into the play-off places with a 1-0 win over Portsmouth in the Dockyard Derby.
• Sheffield Wednesday miss the chance to move into the top six after being held to a 1-1 draw by Accrington at Hillsborough.
• Shrewsbury put on a five star performance to heap more misery on Morecambe.
• Alex Gilbey's first-half goal is enough for Charlton to see off Gillingham at The Valley.
• Jason McCarthy scores a 94th minute winner for Wycombe to break Fleetwood hearts.

• Leaders Forest Green's promotion push continues to stall after they're held to a 1-1 at home to Leyton Orient.
• Northampton and Newport both hold on to record 2-1 wins at Stevenage and Carlisle respectively.
• Tranmere maintain their promotion charge with a 2-0 victory over Harrogate.
• Exeter stay fifth after a 2-1 win at home to Crawley.
• Swindon secure a 2-1 over fellow promotion hopefuls Sutton, who appear to have one eye on their Wembley date next month.
• Bristol Rovers move into the last play-off place with a 1-0 victory over Colchester.

A massive three points for Barnsley, who deservedly come away from the night with the victory which could be vital in their fight for Championship survival.

Carlton Morris and Michal Helik were the heroes of the night, both scoring early first-half goals from corners.

For Bristol City it’s very much a night to forget as their search for a first back-to-back win of the season continues.

West Brom doing all the right things by keeping the ball in the corner down the Fulham end, have easily eaten up two minutes of the five added on by doing so.

Goals from Aaron Connolly and Folarin Balogun help Middlesbrough secure their first away victory since December. They also sneak back into the top six, for now.

Paddy McNair missed a second-half penalty for the visitors while Birmingham failed to get a shot on target and had Kristian Pedersen sent off late on for a second yellow.

Into the last five minutes now and Fulham keep pushing for the leveller.

Nathaniel Chalobah this time sees his effort towards goal creep just wide as he stuck out a boot on the end of Fabio Carvalho's diagonal ball into the box.

Off the line! Bristol City almost get a goal back as injury time ticks over. Chris Martin's header beats Brad Collins but it's cleared by a defender right on the line.

A much-needed win for Blackburn to lift them up to fourth but Derby suffer what could be another telling defeat.

A concerning injury as well for Colin Kazim-Richards towards the end rounds off a night to forget for Wayne Rooney's side.

Aleksandar Mitrovic spurns the chance for goal number 35 of the season from inside the West Brom box.

Antonee Robinson's low ball in from the left but he balloons it over the crossbar from the edge of the six-yard box.

As if being 2-0 down at home wasn't bad enough, Birmingham are going to see out the match with 10 men as Kristian Pedersen is sent off for a second yellow. This one was for pulling back Isaiah Jones, who got the better of him on the edge of the box.

Still just under 15 minutes to play here where West Brom take off goalscorer Callum Robinson and stick on Andy Carroll.

Fulham have also introduced Tom Cairney and Ivan Cavaleiro.
