West Brom v Fulham (20:00 GMT)

While some things stay the same in the Championship, others change with alarming speed.

Had this fixture been played a month ago, it would've been a promotion six-pointer for sure, but such has been the speed of West Brom's slide down the table, they now found themselves in 14th and seven points adrift of the play-off places.

It's only one win in nine for Steve Bruce's charges, which was also the only time they've kept a clean sheet in those games.

Fulham, meanwhile, maintain their course towards an immediate return to the Premier League with a 14-point cushion over third place and only 14 more points needed to secure automatic promotion.

They head to the Hawthorns unbeaten in their past 11 away games and with just the one defeat in their past 13 home and away.

But, a draw at Barnsley on Saturday has now left Marco Silva's side with no room for error if they want to set a new season points record - they need to win all 10 of their remaining matches to surpass Reading's 106 points from the 2005-06 campaign.

    Bournemouth 1-0 Reading

So close to a leveller for Reading from Lucas Joao.

Ovie Ejaria feeds Tom Ince on the right, who curls a cross deep for Joao - he meets it but Mark Travers blocks at close range in Bournemouth's goal.

    Lively start.

  4. 'Ince got mountain to climb at Reading'published at 19:55 Greenwich Mean Time 15 March 2022

When Paul Ince got the Reading job I was shocked, I really was shocked.

But he's obviously got an opportunity.

They're struggling, Reading, so he's got a mountain to climb.

    Barnsley 0-0 Bristol City

The opening five minutes and neither side have yet managed to string much together, although Barnsley are having the better of the possession.

Remarkably, the last five times these two teams have met in the league the score has been 2-2, so if history follows we're in for plenty of goals tonight.

What a start for Bournemouth as Dominic Solanke finds the back of the net yet again for the 22nd time in the Championship this season.

Beautiful one-touch build-up for the Cherries involving Jordan Zemura and Jefferson Lerma before Solanke slots it home inside the Reading penalty area.

    Bournemouth 0-0 Reading

Todd Cantwell takes the first shot on goal at the Vitality Stadium for hosts Bournemouth.

His curling effort is an easy gather for new Reading goalkeeper Orjan Nyland, lining up against a side he also appeared for earlier this season.

  13. League Two previewpublished at 19:43 Greenwich Mean Time 15 March 2022

    Full programme ahead this evening

    FGRImage source, Rex Features

A dozen League Two matches to keep across tonight and another nervy few hours in store for those with teams at the top end.

Just three points separate seven sides in the promotion race.

Leaders Forest Green Rovers have a handy eight-point buffer over that peloton and they welcome Leyton Orient to the New Lawn.

Second-placed Northampton Town head to Stevenage, third-placed Newport County have a long trek up to Carlisle, fourth-placed Tranmere Rovers entertain Harrogate, Exeter City in fifth are at home to Crawley Town while arguably the crunch meeting of the night sees sixth-placed Swindon Town welcome seventh-placed Sutton United to the County Ground.

Bristol Rovers and Mansfield Town are both within striking distance of the play-off places in eighth and ninth and they are in action against Colchester United and Port Vale respectively.

Away from the race to go up, second-from-bottom Oldham will be looking for a win to narrow their three-point deficit to safety when they head to Walsall.

Bottom-of-the-pile Scunthorpe United almost require snookers at 10 points adrift with 10 games to play and anything less than a win at home to Barrow this evening could be curtains for Keith Hill's side.

Seven fixtures as play-off and survival races intensify

    Tom NaylorImage source, Rex Features

Proverbial promotion six-pointers every single round of fixtures it seems in League One at the moment.

Home Park plays host to this evening's latest instalment in the race to scramble into the top six as Plymouth, in sixth, take on 10th-placed Portsmouth, who will still believe they can take their recent unbeaten form into the play-off places.

But both of those sides will have close eyes on the sides around them Sheffield Wednesday are just a point and a place behind Plymouth as they host Accrington, while Wycombe are also in striking distance in eighth and take on Fleetwood.

For the top two, it's fixtures with sides at the opposite end of the table.

Leaders Rotherham entertain under-performing Lincoln City while second-placed Wigan head to bottom-of-the-table Crewe.

Gillingham, meanwhile, take the short trip up the A2 to face Charlton as they look for a win to climb out of the bottom four.

And third-from-bottom Morecambe will also be hoping for the same outcome as they travel to Shrewsbury.

  16. Two teams in need of a good runpublished at 19:39 Greenwich Mean Time 15 March 2022

    Barnsley v Bristol City (19:45)

Bristol City's top scorer Andreas WeimannImage source, Rex Features

A draw with league leaders Fulham on Saturday will have given Barnsley a morale boost as well as a vital point in their fight for Championship survival.

Poya Asbaghi’s side still sit four points from Reading and safety though, and will want to have closed that gap before their crunch match against them in a couple of weeks’ time.

While Bristol City came away from Blackburn with a win at the weekend, their inconsistency will please Barnsley fans - the Robins have yet to record back-to-back victories this season.

They sit in a disappointing 18th, and boss Nigel Pearson will be keen for a win tonight to kick-start a good run of end-of-season form.

  17. Boro pushing for return to play-off spotspublished at 19:37 Greenwich Mean Time 15 March 2022

    Birmingham City v Middlesbrough (19.45)

Middlesbrough manager Chris WilderImage source, Rex Features

There's not been a whole lot to shout about for Birmingham fans this season and a goalless draw against Hull on Saturday summed things up.

They've won just twice in their past 10 matches and are on course to finish in or around the bottom quarter of the table again, unless things drastically change.

Middlesbrough have been in stop-start form of late too and also played out a lacklustre 0-0 draw on the weekend to leave them in eighth.

Their away form is letting them down and their four wins on the road is the fewest of any team in the top 10. The contest for the play-offs is so close at the moment, however, a win tonight could move them up to fourth.

  18. Points crucial for different reasonspublished at 19:35 Greenwich Mean Time 15 March 2022

Blackburn Rovers v Derby County (19:45 GMT)

    Tony MowbrayImage source, Rex Features

Two sides in indifferent form meet at Ewood Park with both desperate for three points.

But fortunes are very contrasting for Blackburn and Derby. Rovers have seen the prospect of automatic promotion slip away, just as their goalscoring touch has also deserted them in recent weeks, while Derby's hopes of pulling off the great escape have fallen down a deeper tunnel.

It's just one win in nine for the hosts while the Rams have also tasted victory just once in their past five.

Both will be smarting as they come off the back of stinging defeats at the weekend. Now it's time for them to show their response on the pitch.

What a difference a result can make to mood and morale at this stage of a season.

There'll be contrasting feelings among supporters of both Bournemouth and Reading going into this meeting at the Vitality Stadium.

The Cherries reignited their automatic promotion push by beating Derby at home on Saturday while Reading's anxious look over their shoulders at the drop zone below would've grown more forlorn after a 4-0 defeat at Nottingham Forest the same afternoon.

Scott Parker may well be absent from the touchline for the hosts but Paul Ince will be in the dugout for visitors Reading as he bids to put them back on track after three straight defeats, and pull them away from the trap door.
