Bigg Ben: United and Spurs made Boro look like prime Barca. Glad Chelsea is putting them back to their place.

One of those stats that gets less impressive as you read on...
Hakim Ziyech is the first Chelsea player to score an FA Cup goal on their birthday since Mason Mount vs Morecambe in January 2021.
Middlesbrough 0-2 Chelsea
Following his two assists, Mason Mount has been directly involved in 50 goals for Chelsea, scoring 25 and assisting 25.

I think Boro boss Chris Wilder would like to get his team in for half-time now still in with a half-chance in this game.

Enthusiastic Ike: Lukaku can get a hat-trick in this game.

I think that clearance typifies what this Middlesbrough side is all about, a never-give-in attitude.
Dijksteel has kept his side in the game there.

There has been a lot of talk recently about Chelsea players not trying to find Romelu Lukaku in the box but he's seen plenty of the action today.

Certainly looks like the long walk to Middlesbrough hasn't put the Chelsea players off from performing.

WHAT A CLEARANCE!
Hakim Ziyech pulls the ball back for Romelu Lukau who goes round the keeper and slots it towards the bottom corner but somehow Anfernee Dijksteel manages to change his body shape and hook it off the line.
VAR might have had a look at offside if that had gone in but it would have counted initially anyway.

Antonio Rudiger completes misses the ball with a air-kick in the box. Boro break quickly but a cross lands on the roof of Edouard Mendy's goal.
Middlesbrough 0-2 Chelsea
Chelsea are really pushing for a third that would wrap this game up. Romelu Lukaku, Mason Mount, Mateo Kovacic and Hakim Ziyech all involved as they win a corner.

Brian: I love how Ziyech can just pull out a long range shot, score and not celebrate. What a way to celebrate your birthday though…
Middlesbrough 0-2 Chelsea
Mason Mount has been directly involved in more goals in all competitions under Thomas Tuchel than any other Chelsea player (14 goals, 15 assists).

I think Lumley will be disappointed with that.
Ziyech's shot has got a little bit of movement on it. I might be being a bit harsh but I'm expecting a bit more from him there.

Hakim Ziyech has got wand of a left foot and it's a brilliant strike. It looks like Joe Lumley's got caught out by the swerve, the dip, but actually it's a brilliant strike because it goes to his left and fires back towards the far corner.
It's out of nothing. Chelsea managed to play through that press and got it perfectly right.

Arjun Singh: HAKIM THE DREAM!
Hakim Ziyech
Chelsea are in control now.
The Blues counter and Mason Mount runs with the ball before picking out Hakim Ziyech on the right wing.
Ziyech, who is 29 today, cuts inside and hammers the ball into the bottom far corner. It doesn't really curl so maybe Joe Lumley should have done better.

It's sustained pressure from Middlesbrough for the first time. They've now come into the game after conceding, but it's all down the right side.
When they haven't got the ball it's been more impressive really. They've sat in, sat tight and picked the opportunities. When the ball goes back to Edouard Mendy, that's the cue they've got because they know Chelsea want to play out through Ruben Loftus-Cheek, the deep-lying midfielder, and that's the guy they want to press.
