FT: Red Star Belgrade 2-1 Rangers (2-4)

Rangers are back at Dens Park on Sunday, having won at a canter at the same venue last weekend in the Scottish Cup.

Scottish Premiership leaders Celtic are at home to Ross County on Saturday, with five matches starting at 15:00.

As ever, we'll have all of the action covered, so join us again then.

  2. 'It's a great achievement' - Van Bronckhorstpublished at 20:14 Greenwich Mean Time 17 March 2022

FT: Red Star Belgrade 2-1 Rangers (2-4)

Rangers boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst has also been giving his thoughts to BT Sport.

"I'm very proud - it's a great achievement to reach the last eight", he said. "We knew it would be difficult. We started well, but they scored from a set-piece and it gave them belief.

"I think we scored at a good time in the second half. We defended well, we didn't give them too much space. More than happy for everyone involved with this club."

[On Allan McGregor's goalkeeping heroics]: "At moments he needs to be there, he is there. I'm really happy with his performances. Even at his age he's really important for us.

"Our belief is only getting stronger. There are big teams left in the draw, so we have to wait and see tomorrow. The opponent will be stronger with each round. The result against Dortmund is one that the whole of Europe thinks is a great achievement.

"We're going to enjoy the night, and then prepare for Dundee on Sunday."

Rangers took care of Braga in the 2020 Europa League, so the Portuguese might be the team fans want next - or would supporters rather go more upmarket and have a crack at Barcelona?

Seville, serial winners of this tournament, might be ones to avoid.

  4. 'We can get goals at this level' - Kentpublished at 20:07 Greenwich Mean Time 17 March 2022

FT: Red Star Belgrade 2-1 Rangers (2-4)

Rangers goalscorer Ryan Kent has been giving his reaction to BT Sport.

"We came here to win today, but the ultimate goal was to progress to the next round", he said. "The amount of running that Ryan Jack and Glen Kamara did in midfield was exceptional.

"I think you create your own luck. We defended and attacked as a team. We know that we're up against very good teams at this stage, but we've also shown that we can get goals at this level.

"We wanted to progress further than we did last season, and we've done that."

It sends a message. When the draw comes around, some teams might still want Rangers, but I think Rangers themselves have a belief now. They had the bravery to go and get that second and third goal last week, and then tonight Rangers have had a response for everything thrown at them.

  7. McGregor makes the differencepublished at 19:57 Greenwich Mean Time 17 March 2022

FT: Red Star Belgrade 2-1 Rangers (2-4)

Our pals at Opta say Allan McGregor, 40, is the oldest goalkeeper to make at least 11 saves in a Europa League game, while it’s the most in the knockout stages of the competition since Copenhagen's Karl-Johan Johnsson against Manchester Utd in August 2020 (13).

There are three more matches kicking off soon...

After falling at this stage over the past two seasons, this is the furthest Rangers have been in European competition since 2008 when they went all the way to the Uefa Cup final.

Rangers are seeing this game out comfortably, quietening the previously deafening home support. The visitors have managed the game superbly, particularly since the equaliser and will deservedly take their place in tomorrow’s last-eight draw.

Allan McGregor punches clear and wipes out team-mate Calvin Bassey in the process. I'm sure the left-back will be quick to forgive after another terrific display from the goalkeeper.

Kemar Roofe cracks in a low shot and home captain Milan Borjan has to tip the ball wide.

From the corner, Connor Goldson shows off some nice dribbling skills before his cross is turned wide by Roofe, who looks offside in any case.

Red Star Belgrade 1-1 Rangers (1-4)

Alfredo Morelos is down on the turf signalling that he can't go on, but he doesn't look too concerned as Kemar Roofe gets ready to replace him.

Borna Barisic is coming on too, taking over from John Lundstram.
