There is no pressure on the Liverpool players when they try to play out from the back.

Marcus Rashford goes one better than Lingard a moment ago by taking down a long ball forward. A softer touch to control and he would be in, but the ball runs away from him and is gathered by Alisson.

Just a little sign there, though, of how United think they can hurt Liverpool.

A chipped ball forward tries to find Jesse Lingard but he can't control and the ball skips out of play for a goal-kick.

In tonight's other significant game, Fulham are 3-0 up against Preston and cruising to promotion back to the Premier League.

Good job the Cottagers can't see this Liverpool display. They might prefer to stay in the Championship.

Luis Diaz fires in what he thinks is his second but the flag is up. He was miles off too as he latched on to a team-mates hooked, miscued effort.

United have a corner. Harry Maguire meets it to head down, but it is easily cleared.

You have to keep reminding yourself that this Manchester United side cost an awful lot of money. You'd never know it from the performance.

Robin: These Man Utd players are just standing there like statues expecting other teammates to do something. It’s more important players are cleared out rather than players being added to this team. Otherwise new signings will be corrupted with this mediocrity.

Harry Maguire heads one Liverpool corner behind. David de Gea punches away another. Liverpool come again but Sadio Mane is offside as he hooks an effort on target.

This is relentless. Phil Jones has hands on knees. He's blowing already.

Liverpool have had so much control. Manchester United have yet to look like they can be a threat going forward, and they don't look like they can stop Liverpool at the other end.

Mohamed Salah runs at Diogo Dalot, who sticks out a boot to take the sting of his shot and make David de Gea's save more comfortable.

What a pass from Thiago to release Salah by the way! Fired cross-field.

What a horrible experience this is for Manchester United as they are helpess in the face of Liverpool's power. The gulf in class is frightening.

Anfield is joyous. Not sure how you would describe the way Manchester United's fans are feeling.

United are all over the shop. David de Gea comes out to head away ahead of Mohamed Salah, but the ball only falls to Trent Alexander-Arnold. He also tries to feed Salah and United are forced to punt the ball anywhere.

Finally, United offer something in the Liverpool half. Even then it is just a dart and over-hit cross from Anthony Elanga. At least it is something though.

Nii: Even if you hate Liverpool, that goal is class and admirable.
