Jordan Henderson goes down on the edge of the United area as Liverpool attack. Harry Maguire was the man closest to him. Looks like a trip, but I'm not sure it was intentional.

If United score next, though, it would make things interesting.

You have to wonder just how much Liverpool are playing within themselves with this 2-0 lead? They definitely have higher gears than they are currently cruising in.

Yes a rebuild is needed, a manager needs to come in and give direction, but there are players out there not giving any commitment. Things every player can do is run, drive, put everything out there.

This is Liverpool versus Manchester United. The 5-0 at Old Trafford was embarrassing and they have not got near laying a glove on Liverpool tonight.

Liverpool are in absolute cruise control and United have not shown any sign that they are going to do something about it.

There are a lot of things wrong with United at this point in time, but these guys are supposed to be professionals.

Well, that is rubbish.

Bruno Fernandes chips the free-kick over everyone and straight to Alisson.

Jadon Sanco has injecting some direct running into the United side.

He tries to get in down the left, but comes out second best with Trent Alexander-Arnold. Should really have tested Alisson.

Thiago fouls Anthony Elanga soon after to give the visitors a free-kick in Liverpool territory...

This is much better from Manchester United.

They are posing problems for their opponent.

Manchester United's first shot on goal comes from Jadon Sancho as his trundler is saved by Alisson.

United's pressing is at least forcing the home side out of that comfort zone that saw them stroking the ball around with such ease. Everything is a bit more hurried now. Less assured.

United are at least making this half a contest so far.

Strange things can happen in football but at this stage it looks like the game is won.

Liverpool are trying to draw the press from Manchester United and they haven't really taken the bait yet. It looks like Liverpool still have levels to go up.

There's not enough effort and commitment to United's press when they do go and do it.

United have shown more intent and commitment in the first five minutes of this half than the whole 45.

Well, the United fans are doing their bit, chanting 'Manchester' to try and get their side going.

It prompts a response from the home fans, who let it be known exactly what they think of Manchester.

The corner is very easily cleared.

Liverpool break and Andy Robertson thinks he is caught. The ref doesn't agree. The full-back gets back to trip Anthony Elanga. This is a free-kick.

Finally, some effective pressing from United. They put Liverpool's defence under pressure, win the ball and force a corner.
