Tottenham manager Antonio Conte speak to Match of the Day: "A little bit frustrated because in every game you want to try to win. But at the end of the game I think the draw was fair. They are strong physically and crated many problems in set pieces.

"I think in the end, a draw, in our mind we wanted three points. Today we didn't deserve three points. Now we have to try to prepare the last five games in the best possible way and stay in this race.

"We have to be very proud because of the difficulties this club has faced this season. To now fight for a target like Champions League in England we have to be proud."

On behind prevented from scoring for two games in a row: "I think now the opponent when they face us they pay great attention. This is the difference. When you climb the mountain and start going up, the difficulty becomes more and more.

"I think defensively we were good today. Offensively we can do much better. But we have to respect the game Brentford played as they played a very good game.

"We have to continue to do what we are doing and continue to work in the same way. We have to try to do more in possession in the game and to take more responsibility. To stay in this race for a place in the Champions League I think is a big achievement for all the problems this team had this season."

On Christian Eriksen's display for Brentford: "I have seen Christian in fantastic form. We are talking about a really good player, great quality. He uses two feet in the same way and is very dangerous in free-kick and corners. I am pleased to see him, especially after what happened. Brentford gave him a possibility to play again and for this reason Brentford deserve to enjoy this type of game with him."

Ed Franklin: What has happened to Spurs in the last two games? playing like strangers in pre-season. Or worse, on a pointless end of season tour. Feels such a pivotal top 4 race for them this year, yet they don't seem interested in fighting for it.

  7. 'We have to be proud'published at 19:53 British Summer Time 23 April 2022

    FT: Brentford 0-0 Tottenham

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham boss Antonio Conte to Sky Sports: "A tough game and for sure, it was very difficult. They are physical. They tried to exploit set-pieces in a dangerous way. When there is the possibility, they try to put the ball into the box.

"Defensively we were good but at the same time I think we can do much better with the ball to create chances to score. The intensity was very high but we knew what type of game we would come to play. It's a draw and I think when you cannot win, it's important to take one point and we did this.

"We have found teams who have defended very deep and we find this type of situation is not simple but at the same time you have to attack and pay attention to their counter-attack. We watched the game Brentford played against Chelsea and they lost space in this type of situation.

"We are trying to do our best. For sure, we want to reach [as high as] possible. We started in a low position in November and I think we made many improvements. We have to continue to improve because I think it is not enough if we want to stay in this race. But we have to be proud we are in this race as we started this work in November and to see the point we are in now, we have to be proud."

On Christian Eriksen: "Christian Eriksen is very good with the ball. He's able to use both feet and be dangerous. He's incredible on set-pieces and we are talking about a really good player. I was very happy to see him in this fantastic form."

On top four battle: "We have to try to give our best. For sure in November you cannot imagine to receive this question. Now we are in the race and we have to stay. We know it is very difficult. The opponent try to pay more attention when they play against you but today is a good draw and I think it was against a Brentford team who played with good intensity and were very dangerous with set-pieces."

  8. 'We want more than 40 points'published at 19:49 British Summer Time 23 April 2022

    FT: Brentford 0-0 Tottenham

    Brentford

Brentford manager Thomas Frank speaks to Match of the Day: "Massively proud. I think it was a top performance against a very good Tottenham side that came with their strongest players. We had so many injuries with our centre back situation.

"We played with two new centre backs, a new wing back, without our normal number six and we limited perhaps the best front two in the league to nothing. Plus we created chances and opportunities. I think there could be only one winner - us - and that is crazy to be honest.

"We missed these players. We were a little down to the bare bones but the players stepping in are focused, well prepared and ready to help the team.

"I think we started the season very well. Then we started getting our injuries. Then we had the bad spell with results but performances were quite sold actually. Now we are in a better spell, it is easier for players to step in."

On reaching 40 points: "True. I heard about that figure when we came in. It has never been a specific target but we want more."

Luke: Awful from Spurs, very lucky point. Leicester and Liverpool next. They could be out the top four race before the NLD.

  11. 'We know what's at stake'published at 19:39 British Summer Time 23 April 2022

    FT: Brentford 0-0 Tottenham

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham defender Eric Dier speaking to Sky Sports: "Obviously at this stage in the season, when we're fighting for what we're fighting for, a point is never enough. Last week we should have finished 0-0 and we didn't, we lost. This week at least we didn't get complacent at the other end but we have to settle for a draw which is the second-best thing to a win I guess.

"I don't think we created enough chances and our play wasn't very fluid as it usually is and has become under the manager. I saw we had no shots on target again for two weeks in a row. It's not just the forward players, we need to give them the ball in the right positions. We're really disappointed.

"It's not what we expect after the way we've been attacking and the amount of chances we've been creating and scoring. We've not been as flued in our play, not got in good positions and been sloppy in our play."

On the top four battle: "We know what's at stake. I think in the last three games a lot changed and in the next three a lot can change. We need to focus on ourselves and try to win all of our games. Today is a hiccup but we have no time to feel sorry for ourselves. We have to go again next weekend. It's still in our hands because we have to play [Arsenal].

"We have a lot of games to play before that. A lot can change. We have to stay in our bubble and try to figure out why we haven't been fluid the last few games."

Playing against Christian Eriksen: "It's emotional to play against him. It's strange to play against him. I've spent most of my professional career playing with him. I never imagined playing against him under these circumstances. I don't care if he's playing against us I'm just happy he's healthy. I'm really happy for him and his family."

    Brentford

Brentford defender Pontus Jansson speaks to Sky Sports about marking Harry Kane: "He is a key player for them, how they use him all the time, bouncing the ball off him to Son and Moura. It's important for me to win that battle. Against those players you can't switch off but I think I had him for most of the game at least."

On reaching 40 points: "We are staying focused all season taking it game by game. Even in though spells when we lost seven out of eight we still focused and worked hard."
