The pressure from Man City.... if you look at their formation, they get bodies around Watford. Everyone presses the far side of the pitch and condenses the pitch.

Any team would struggle against that pressing.

    Leicester 0-0 Aston Villa

Villa have been a bit poor at the back when in possession. Leicester are onto them sharpish and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall wins it just outside the box.

He tries to slide in Patson Daka but it's cut-out.

    Norwich 0-0 Newcastle

Bruno Guimaraes and the Newcastle fans are an instant love affair.

The midfielder, who scored twice in the recent win over Leicester, is dumped on his behind for a foul and sparks chants of "Bruno! Bruno!" from the away end.

Barring the two big chances, this has been played largely in the middle of the pitch.

The home fans around me are on their feet to applaud Oleksandr Zinchenko for that last-ditch challenge. He saved a certain Watford goal.

That's a warning for City. They are camped in the Watford box but the Hornets have bags of pace on the break.

I would pay for someone to take Mings and Luiz, how do they make this team, very very poor, for a very long time.

    Man City 1-0 Watford

    Bit of hope for Watford!

They get a lucky break as City switch off at the back. Emmanuel Dennis has a long way to run but he's almost one-on-one with the keeper before Oleksandr Zinchenko gets back to put in a really good tackle.

    Leicester 0-0 Aston Villa

Ademola Lookman does really well on the left to keep the ball in play and wins a free-kick for Leicester, who are starting to get into some nice positions.

Kevin de Bruyne drills it in from the right. It almost falls for Rodri, then Fernandinho skies it well wide.

Should be 1-0 to Norwich now!

Another long ball, this time to send Kieran Dowell in. He has time and space but lobs his angled effort over the Newcastle bar.

    One big chance apiece.

City are already well settled. Oleksandr Zinchenko is seeing plenty of the ball on the left.

Jack Grealish is picked out now and it's switched over to Joao Cancelo, who wins a corner.

What a run from Ollie Watkins. He shrugs off Wesley Fofana and tees up Leon Bailey but his shot is over the bar. Decent chance for Villa.

    Should be 1-0 to Newcastle!

A long angled ball forward is met on the volley by Jacob Murphy in the box. Instead, the former Norwich man sends his effort past the far post.

Two switches of play. Cancelo to Zinchenko and then a low ball in finds Gabriel Jesus unmarked in the areas. It is a good finish.

    Crazy start from Watford.

    Leicester 0-0 Aston Villa

Ooh. Bit of a fumble from Emiliano Martinez!

Leicester are just starting to sneak in behind out wide now. They gain space on the right and the Villa goalkeeper doesn't deal with it comfortably.

Luckily, there's no Leicester striker close enough to pounce on the fumble and Martinez gathers it back in quickly.

    Norwich 0-0 Newcastle

A rare chance for Joelinton to play in the position for which Newcastle bought him today. He has remodelled himself really well as a midfielder under Eddie Howe. How will he fare with the goalscoring burden on him?

He had eight goals in 99 Premier League games prior to this.

    Gabriel Jesus (4 mins)

    Well, that didn't take long.

Joao Cancelo's cross comes all the way through to Oleksandr Zinchenko on the far side. He has acres of time and space to pick out Gabriel Jesus in the box.

He's completely unmarked and pokes it in from the centre. Simple.

  17. 'An improved performance but disappointing result'published at 15:03 British Summer Time 23 April 2022

    FT: Arsenal 3-1 Man Utd

    Manchester United

Man Utd interim boss Ralf Rangnick to BBC Match of the Day: “Today was better than Tuesday, an improved performance. We should have scored more goals than we did.

"We bounced back from a poor start and had numerous chances. He hit the crossbar and the post twice. We had enough chances to get a better result.

“The one thing we didn’t do well was defending in and around our own box. This has been an issue all season. We should have defended better. The third goal was a clear offside and I do not understand why VAR did not intervene.

“But in possession we created enough chances to get two or even three goals.

“They [the players] are very disappointed and frustrated. Had we converted the penalty it would have changed the whole game, but we didn’t.

“We hit the post and had another VAR decision, we thought Cristiano’s goal was not offside. There were three unlucky VAR decision against us, there was also a handball decision inside the box.

“But again we have to deal with it and cope with it. An improved performance but disappointing result

“We need to defend better. We have conceded an average of three goals in our last three games, we were far better a few weeks ago.”

Look at the two sides, it is such a difficult one for Watford. Man City have been outstanding all season.

How will Watford line up? They've got to be compact.

A good start for Watford - well, comparatively. They were 1-0 down after 52 seconds last time they came here, in 2019, and went on to lose 8-0.
