  1. Stakes high for Evertonpublished at 16:09 British Summer Time 24 April 2022

    Liverpool v Everton

    Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer at Anfield

If Everton did not need something before kick-off, they certainly do now after Burnley's win.

And yet, it is difficult to see how Everton get anything from this game given their abject away record and Liverpool's magnificent current form.

Strange things happen in derby games - but that strange?

    Liverpool v Everton (16:30 BST)

Frank Lampard says he wants his team to be "brave" at Anfield and to show "passion, fight and desire".

In a derby that is almost always ferocious, Lampard has called for his team to be physical but to "remain on the right side of the law".

On facing his first Merseyside derby, he said: "It’s a huge fixture and I’m very proud to be going up in a football game of this size.

"I’ve got a full understanding, I know what this club and fixture means to the fans.

"I don’t need to understand much more because I know what will be coming on Sunday.

"It’s an important match for both teams but for different reasons."

  4. 'This is the most important goal'published at 16:03 British Summer Time 24 April 2022

    FT: Burnley 1-0 Wolves

    Burnley

Burnley striker Matej Vydra: "The last 10 minutes, I was so nervous. I was counting the minutes and praying we could bring the three points home. I think we struggled in our defensive shape first half because they played three or five at the back. I swapped position with Jay [Rodriguez] after starting on the left and my target was to put pressure on [Willy] Boly.

"My first [goal of the season] was Chelsea away, it was an important goal. This one is even more important, but it doesn't matter who scores, we need to be one goal ahead of the opposition and to take three points. We are so happy today."

  5. 'We need to finish the season strongly'published at 16:02 British Summer Time 24 April 2022

    FT: Chelsea 1-0 West Ham

    Chelsea

Chelsea midfielder Christian Pulisic, speaking to Sky Sports: "He [Thomas Tuchel] just said to make a difference. To combine and make opportunities. It feels good to be more secure in the top four. We need a win at home and it feels great in front of our fans. We need to finish the season strong. Some good league games and then a final. I needed to come in and make a difference and show I want to be playing."

That Burnley win over Wolves has dropped Everton into the bottom three.

Unless the Toffees win today they will be in the drop zone for at least a week. Burnley play again before Everton do so it could get even worse.

Liverpool need to win to keep the pressure on Manchester City, who beat Watford 5-1 yesterday.

    Chelsea 1-0 West Ham

    Just what Chelsea needed.

Jorginho thought he'd fluffed it, but Christian Pulisic to the rescue.

West Ham defended really well for so long, but Craig Dawson's sending off left just that bit of space for the Blues to decisively exploit.

    Chelsea 1-0 West Ham

    Pat Nevin
Former Scotland winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

Well done to Tuchel for making the right change, but what a run down the left. West Ham got carried away, possibly forgetting they only have 10 men. They legt a big gap.

Jorginho is more relieved than anyone else right now. It is harsh on West Ham.
