    Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace boss Patrick Vieira, speaking to ITV Sport: "I don't know if it was a fair reflection [a 2-0 loss], in the first half we frustrated them a lot, we had chances and in the situation we could have played them better. Against these teams it is about taking your chances and we didn't and they did.

"I believe these sorts of games with a lot of tension will make us a better team. We had chances but didn't score but we also didn't give the ball at the right time sometimes.

"We just have to keep going. This is the kind of game the players, manager and the club wants to get involved in. We have to keep building the team and working well. The fans were unbelievable today and thanks again to them for their support.

"We were close but there is still a big gap between Chelsea and ourselves."

  4. 'It is time for us to win a final at Wembley'published at 18:59 British Summer Time 17 April 2022

    FT: Chelsea 2-0 Crystal Palace

    Chelsea

Chelsea goalscorer Mason Mount, speaking to ITV Sport: "It is a game we used to bounce back. It was a very, very tough game. They made it very difficult for us. They have some top players. It wasn't easy.

"The way we came through it we showed character.

"I am buzzing for Rubes [Ruben Loftus-Cheek]. He is a top, top player. He comes on in a difficult game and steps up. He is dominant and the way he drives the ball forward helps us. He was brilliant today.

"Timo Werner is brilliant, he has done so well the last couple of games. He had a chance in the second half that he missed but then ran all the way back to win the ball and that shows the player he is.

"It is time for us to win a final at Wembley. It is five finals I have lost so we have to put the pressure on us to step up."

  5. 'A controlled and serious performance'published at 18:53 British Summer Time 17 April 2022

    FT: Chelsea 2-0 Crystal Palace

    Chelsea

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel, speaking to ITV Sport: "It was not easy because we played three games in three different competitions. It is not always easy, very challenging physically, we are the team with the most minutes in Europe I think, it is also challenging mentally.

"I thought the performance was very controlled and very serious, we took care of their counterattacks. It was hard, the opponent changed system twice, you cannot lose focus for a minute.

"He [Ruben Loftus-Cheek] was very, very strong in matches against Southampton and Real Madrid, he would have deserved to start but we expected a back four. We knew Ruben would have a big impact off the bench. I am very happy.

"He hid his talent and potential for a long time in his career. He is capable of producing performances that everyone sees on the pitch. For him it is step by step that he continues to grow in his confidence."

On facing Liverpool in FA Cup final: "I am happy to be part of it again, I cannot be more excited and more proud because it is a huge competition. We will be ready."

Palace made Chelsea work, but Chelsea deserved it.

It was always going to be tough with the way Vieira set up; it was tough for Wilfried Zaha. We didn't see much from him.

Chelsea came through after a tough week. What a final we have in store.

Crystal Palace's fans are the best in the Premier League. They are pinching themselves to be in a semi-final.

    FT: Chelsea 2-0 Crystal Palace

    Chelsea

Chelsea goalscorer Ruben Loftus-Cheek, speaking to ITV Sport: "Way overdue [the goal]! It has been a tough road with injuries and going on loan to find my form again but I always believed in myself and I always wanted to play for Chelsea. I have played quite a lot this season, I am happy.

"I was just thinking hit it, I think it took a little deflection but I'll take it! I had to be ready to step in. It looked a bit slow in the first half so I just wanted to bring some energy.

"The reason I am still here is my mentality through all the injuries. I still believed in myself and I said for many years my time will come.

"We want to get them back, simple as that. It was a fantastic game in the League Cup final and could have gone either way."
