Kouyate sends a strong effort through the crowd of players inside the box, Edouard Mendy pushes the effort away and then Joachim Andersen strikes the woodwork on the follow up but the defender is offside.

Once again Crystal Palace explode to life with an opportunity on the break as Jorginho loses possession inside his own half before the Eagles win a free kick on the left.

Mason Mount tries his luck with the half-volley from Jorginho's knockdown on the edge of the area but sends the ball sailing high over the bar.

Crystal Palace are sitting in now with a low defensive block and are happy to let Chelsea have the ball but keep attacking opportunities limited.

Timo Werner then fizzes a great ball across the box to Cesar Azpilicueta but he gets his contact for the shot all wrong and it goes well wide.

Not quite the same explosive opening to yesterday's first FA Cup semi-final between Liverpool and Manchester City. In fact, it's a bit dull between Chelsea and Crystal Palace.

This is all very cagey as the two teams feel each other out. No chances and little in the way of excitement.

Chelsea continue to probe the Crystal Palace defence and Jorginho's ball for Cesar Azpilicueta, who is running into the box wide right, is just a little too long.

Palace will be happy. They are frustrating Chelsea, who are dominating. Hopefully the game opens up in the second half and they might get some opportunities.
