That first half was really entertaining. It was physical from the first whistle.

A lot of that first half has been played in the Tunisia half and that is shown by the average position of each player.

Australia are the purple circles and have six players in the Tunisia half on average. They are particularly keen to get Mathew Leckie (seven) close to Mitchell Duke (15).

Their full-backs (five and 16) are also pushing forward and leaving the two centre-backs to deal with Issam Jebali (black, nine) who is the furthest forward Tunisia player.

That late Youssef Msakni chance represented the best chance of the first half according to Opta's Expected Goals tool.

Tunisia have actually created the best two chances (shown by the bigger black circles) and their xG score is 0.35 compared to Australia's 0.31.

Huge chance for Tunisia but Youssef Msakni puts it wide from close range. The experienced Tunisia captain cannot believe it.

The passing accuracy of the full-backs has been lacking in this game.
