Aymeric Laporte is a cool customer. He's under pressure but still manages to steer a precise header back to his keeper. You don't play for Man City unless you can keep a cool head.

David Raum's touch lets him down on the left as a pass is fired at him. Shame for Germany. That could have been a useful opening.

The crowd is quiet. A dull murmur moving around the stadium. There is going to be a lot of nervous energy, especially amongst the German supporters.

We talk a lot about Pedri and Gavi. We can't wait for what the future holds for those two but there's also Musiala on the other side.

I thought he was really good against Japan. He had the move where he danced through the Japan defence and it was the only the finish that wasn't up to scratch.

He's had a couple of opportunities already and that's what Germany will be wanting him to be doing more of up the pitch.

Spain respond to that Germany chance with a prolonged period of possession that draws a foul from their opponent.

They're soon on the attack, but a forward pass to Gavi is too heavy.

It's nice to have a referee who doesn't blow his whistle every time somebody goes down. You can see the reaction of the players, they're just getting on with it.

It is understandable if Germany feel the best way for them to hurt Spain is using the pace of Gnabry and Musiala on the break. They are both lightning, and Thomas Muller knows how to pick a pass.

That is also a warning. It says "ok, you've put us under pressure, but we can also play a little bit".

The pass was just delayed a little bit and that led to the offside.

It does change!

Germany threaten through the ever-reliable Thomas Muller. He feeds a pass through for Serge Gnabry, whose shot is saved but had gone a fraction early. Up goes the flag.

It's encouraging for the Germans, though.

More concern for Germany.

Ferran Torres is picked out on the right and gets into his stride but David Raum sticks out a boot to tackle and halt him.

We're yet to see much of the Germans going forward. No pressure just yet but that will have ti change.

Spain are stretching. They're using every inch of this pitch. They are putting a lot of pressure on and the diagonal ball is on all the time. I think we'll see that a lot tonight.

It really was travelling, that effort. Neuer did brilliantly.

The Spain fans were up. They were sure that was in. So did I!

What a strike that is. There was no there thought in his head other than to shot.

What a shot that is because it is a wonderful strike.

Germany have had their warning. Spain are so difficult to play against.

What a fantastic opportunity to go 1-0. Neuer gets a hand to it and it's a fantastic save. I have to say that the German defence is all over the place, it goes through the legs of Kehrer.

Germany can't press enough. It is hard when you are passing the ball all the time, let alone when you are chasing. If they are going to press they've got to it all together.

Oof! What a hit this is!

Dani Olmo is found on the left and he takes a touch to get the ball out of his feet before lashing an effort that Manuel Neuer does brilliantly to push on to the bar.

Take a bow, Manuel. Now get your head back on, because Spain look in the mood.

The German supporters seemed relatively subdued pre match, but they have started to come to life.
