Disappointing. Neymar takes and looks to curl it into the top corner but clips the top of the wall. It'll be a consolation corner.

A cynical challenge, he's targeted him there.

Neymar is coming in on his right foot and the defender absolutely takes him out.

  3. YELLOW CARDpublished at 49 mins

    Brazil 0-0 Serbia

    This is a foul!

Neymar is taken down right on the edge of the box by a cynical challenge from Nemanja Gudelj. The Serbia man receives a yellow and Brazil have the chance to fire a set-piece at goal.

Pretty likely that the man fouled will hit it...

That is two enormous chances which have not been taken by Raphinha.

    Brazil 0-0 Serbia

Neymar only just made it out for the second half, still doing his boots up and tucking his shirt in.

Brazil have come out with the bit between their teeth, though. Richarlison thinks he should have a free-kick after breaking forward before falling to the turf when challenged. The ref waves for him to get up.

Watching the game in a sports park in Soure, Ilha de Marajo, Brazil - fair to say the locals are not happy with that first half!

    Brazil 0-0 Serbia

The half starts with a big chance for Brazil! It's fallen to Raphinha again.

An error in the Serbian defence allows the ex-Leeds player a clear sight of goal but not for the first time Vanja Milinkovic-Savic is big and blocks.

After watching most of the first round of games, I can't say there is an outstanding favourite. Is it too early to say it's coming home?

    Gilberto Silva
Former Brazil defender on BBC One

They need to feed Vinicius Jr.

He's the one with the power to pass them one v one. They didn't get enough balls to him for him to try to create something.

    Alan Shearer
Former England striker on BBC One

You've got to give Serbia credit for the way they've defended.

We said they would make it very difficult for Brazil and that's exactly what they've done.

Other than one really good opportunity for Raphinha which he put straight at the goalkeeper, they've handled them really well and kept Neymar away from goal.

    Chris Sutton
Former England striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

This is a streetwise Serbian team, I think I have said it before that I think the three centre backs have been terrific.

That one chance for Raphinha, who showed a real lack of conviction that has been it for Brazil.

Serbia's coaching staff lining up to high five their players as they come off at half-time. Tells you everything - they regard that first 45 as job done. So far at least.
