By comparison, England's XI was pretty much universally approved of!

We were talking about this earlier which Brazil will we see. If you want to win this World Cup you are going to have to work hard out of possession.

The game has certainly changed in that respect you can't carry passengers and Neymar looks like he is putting a shift in.

Martin Brophy: How is Paqueta playing? He has had a terrible start - Bruno Guimaraes is on form for Newcastle.

Am I the only one who doesn’t rate Paqueta much? Seen him for West Ham too and he’s not that good. Bruno Guimaraes is far better.

So far Tottenham forward Richarlison has been the deepest of Brazil's four forward players (black, number nine).

That may be because he's only had nine touches so far - the fewest of any player, including goalkeepers - and is desperate to get into the game.

    Brilliant keeping!

There was almost the spark. Thiago Silva's pass almost finds Vinicius Jr in the box but Vanja Milinkovic-Savic is out in a flash to dive at the Real Madrid forward's feet and block. He's also able to get up and clear too.

It's, what... poised? Intriguing? Are those the right words for a game that has yet to spark into life but feels like it could do at any moment?

    Brazil 0-0 Serbia

Serbia's first real attack ends with Alisson coming out to claim a Dudan Tadic cross that is aimed at Aleksandar Mitrovic. The Fulham forward gives the Liverpool keeper a nudge, but the grasp is good.

Raphinha tries to get in down the right but Strahinja Pavlovic does well to hold him off and ensure a goal-kick.

When they are out of possession the Serbians will line up as a back five but when they win the ball back you talk about that lack of pace which is so essential to counter-attack.

Dusan Tadic is a really talented footballer, a real magician but they need that pace.

I wouldn't fancy being a Serbian defender tonight, with the talent I'd be up against. But I tell you what, the lads in red out there have done a fine job so far.

Re: Tom 19.04, Jesus on the bench for Richarlison is good for Arsenal.

Andy, an Arsenal fan, not a Brazilian fan.

Tom (19:04) calm down - Jesus having a rest is better for Arsenal. Hate to say it but Richarlison scores a few for Brazil so merits the start today.

Serbia's keeper does have a save to make.

Casemiro belts one but it is straight at Vanja Milinkovic-Savic.

    Travelling!

Neymar gets hold of the ball 30 yards from goal and unleashes an effort that looks to be on target and has some serious juice behind it. It strikes a Serbian body to ensure the keeper isn't tested.

Dusan Tadic is an important player for Serbia and they have to find him more, certainly in wide positions for him to put the crosses in.

If Richarlison on the pitch ahead of Gabriel Jesus is criminal (see 19:04 entry), then Richarlison on the plane ahead of Firmino borders on cardinal sin.

    Nick, Liverpool fan in Manchester.

And here comes the Liverpool fans! Play nice, everyone.

They will look at come inside and link up on their favoured foot.
