Half an hour gone and those two Ronaldo chances have been the big opportunities in this game.

Ghana still yet to register a shot.

Joao Felix has been hugely talked about and is obviously a talent.

He's yet to really make his mark at international level though.

Salis Abdul Samed gets a piece of Bruno Fernandes' shirt and the Portuguese goes down like he's the victim of a sniper.

Moments later, Cristiano Ronaldo produces a wonderful finish but it's immediately ruled out for a foul.

This game is in need of a lift. Plenty of attacking endeavour from Portugal but their finishing has not been up to scratch.

    Please, not another goalless draw.

Bristol City's Antoine Semenyo scored his first Ghana goal in their final warm up game last week. His pace, physicality and direct play can frighten any defender on his day, especially tired ones. If it's still tight at 75mins, I'm hoping to see him!

Have we mentioned Portugal's shocking World Cup record, Neil?

    Just one semi-final since 1966.

Just three victories from their last 14 games in the competition.

Don't turn around, Joao Felix! The Atletico Madrid forward overcooks a cross and boss Fernando Santos does not look happy.

Portugal have a big weakness and it isn’t Ronaldo. It’s their attitude. They’re soft and cry about every little thing so teams need to get stuck in with them. Pressure them and make tackles and whatever to wind them up. We have all seen how Fernandes behaves at Utd when he doesn’t get his way.

Portugal have been really been focusing on Ghana's right-hand side.

Raphael Guerreiro has been prominent - and the Portugal left-back has spent more time in Ghana's half than his own, really hugging that left touchline.

Ghana have got to try and get hold of the ball.

It's hard to go a full game playing like this against a team of this quality. Sooner or later, there will be a lapse in concentration.

Ghana have just sat off, Portugal are probing and the longer the game goes on, the more opportunities Portugal will get to have the ball in key areas.

Apart from those two attempts by Ronaldo, there's not been a lot to report. Ghana are doing a good containing job but they should be behind as Portugal continue to boss possession.

Ghana's fans love a trumpet! Someone is playing one in the crowd and supporters are singing at the top of their voices. A little bit of Accra in Qatar. Great atmosphere.

Fulham and Portugal's Joao Palhinha will make the 'Team of Tournament' when all is said and done. You heard it here first.

There's sections of chanting and singing from both sets of fans, but it's hardly raucous in here.

But any time Cristiano Ronaldo gets anywhere near that ball, the Portuguese fans are up on their feet in expectation.

Portugal keeper Diogo Costa has had very little to do which is concerning for Ghana. They need to mix it up. They're lacking any threat as it stands.

Portugal are typically slow starters in tournaments and definitely should be in the conversation about potential winners

  20. 'Expression says it all'published at 16:14 Greenwich Mean Time 24 November 2022

    Matthew Upson
Former England defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

Cristiano Ronaldo's expression says it all.

He's not happy that he's not made better contact with that. He gets up so well but he doesn't really commit to the header.

He knows that if he gets that on target it's a goal. His run and jump was unbelievable.
