Rodrigo Bentancur with a great chance for Uruguay and it's all his own work. He picks up the ball just inside his own half, storms forwards, somehow squeezes past a couple of challenges in the middle of the Portugal defence and finds himself with only Diogo Costa to beat.

But the finish is a massive disappointment as he shoots low at the Portugal goalkeeper when a lifted attempt may have seen more success.

There have been seven attempts on goal so far (two for Uruguay, five for Portugal) in this Group H match but we are yet to see one of them hit the target.

I'm not too sure if Uruguay are getting to grips with this formation, especially off the ball. They don't seem to know who is responsible for what. They're just about managing to get enough bodies in the way to stay in the game.

Portugal have started really well. Those players we mentioned before Felix, Neves, Silva, Fernandes - they're all linking together well.

You imagine Uruguay do have a plan of attack with Darwin Nunez and Edinson Cavani but we have not seen it yet.

Bruno Fernandes is sprinting down the right but can't get there to keep the ball in. It's been a fair while since we had any good chances of note, but Portugal are still seeing a lot of the ball though.

Uruguay are having to find the perfect pass to get out at the moment. They need to get players further up the pitch to establish some kind of control. They need to start trying to control possession and build on that.

But not this time. A jumping Uruguay wall sees Matias Vecino head it behind for a corner. Portugal then win another corner, but make a mess of it with the ball going out for a throw-in.

The referee should be having a word with Bentancur and telling him, 'you've used up all your freebies, you've got a yellow card and next time you could be in trouble.'

It's not like he's making tackles that are effective in any word. They're little needly kicks. He's got to be careful.

Rodrigo Bentancur has received the earliest booking in a World Cup match at this year's tournament (five mins, 43 seconds). It's the earliest a Uruguay player has been booked in a World Cup game since 1986 - Jose Alberto Batista v Scotland (54 seconds).

Meanwhile, away from the World Cup - Manchester City have just been drawn with Chelsea in the FA Cup third round. Tasty.

It's not been a fast-paced game, it's been very tactical. Uruguay are allowing Portugal to have the ball, they're keeping their shape and choosing when to press and when to sit off. They just don't want to allow too many opportunities for Portugal's skillful players to have time on the board.

Uruguay's Rodrigo Bentancur, already on a yellow, needs to watch himself. He gives Ruben Neves of Wolves a shove in the back and is then pretty argumentative with the referee, when he would be wise to be quiet.

Twice now Uruguay have won the ball relatively high up the pitch and have not been able to do quite enough with it.

It's the first involvement for Liverpool's Darwin Nunez and it's a bustling run down the left flank, winning a corner and screaming at his country's fans for more noise in what looks an amazing atmosphere.

The corner eventually finds defender Jose Maria Gimenez but his looping header ends up on the roof of the net, and not inside it.

Bruno Fernandes has shot just wide for Portugal and then gets involved again trying to thread a ball through the Uruguay defence but Jose Maria Gimenez shows good awareness, sliding in to stop Cristiano Ronaldo being through on goal.

When you're in the heart of the pitch and there are loose balls popping up all over the place, an early yellow card is not a good thing. It was a very unnecessary tackle and puts Bentancur in a difficult position.

Who had six minutes for the first yellow card of the match in the sweepstake? It goes to Tottenham and Uruguay's Rodrigo Bentancur, catching Manchester City's Ruben Dias late and a bit naughty.

Great skill from Cristiano Ronaldo, who lays off a high ball with his chest right into the path of William Carvalho and he goes for a spectacular volley.

It would've been some goal and he strikes it beautifully from 20 yards out but the direction isn't there and it zips over the top. As we hoped for, it's been a lively start to the action in one of the standout matches of the group stage.
