Disappointed with Messi there, he didn't go up for a header with Souttar. He's only a foot taller.

The concentration is so key for Australia. Argentina will pass and pass and hope that Australia lose focus. So far, I don't think there has been one blade of grass out of position from Australia.

There are Argentina fans quite literally bouncing up and down all over the stadium.
Their team hasn't even done anything yet.
It will absolutely go off if they score...

First chance of the game. Lionel Messi finds Alejandro 'Papu' Gomez on the left. The winger cuts in and lashes a wild shot high and wide.

This has been really good from Australia. The more bitty and scrappy it is the happier they will be.

I presume that's yellow and blue to mark his one-game loan spell at Oxford United in 2012.

It's good from Australia. They're condensing the space, it's a good shape from them and good distance between players.

There is an air of expectancy every time the ball lands at Lionel Messi's feet.
Almost a hushed roar before an audible let out of breathe if he loses possession.
So much pressure on one man's shoulders.
Argentina 0-0 Australia
Harry Souttar plays a lovely diagonal ball to Mathew Leckie but he can't take it under control. Leckie scored the goal which took Australia here so I suspect he'll be given plenty of leeway.

Just the 88% of possession for Argentina in the first 10 minutes.
The Australian fans are clapping every time their team touch the ball... which isn't that often.

Lionel Messi's game has changed a lot. He walks more than any player you will ever see. He just walks and his head swivels and it's incredible because if any other player did that, you would shout at them to get moving and help the team.
He just looks for the angles and looks for the space. At the moment he is not finding much but he will at some point.
Argentina 0-0 Australia
Alexis Mac Allister is fouled and Argentina have a free-kick 40 yards out. They play it short and quick. A heavy Lionel Messi touch lets Australia take over.
Argentina get the ball back and Julian Alvarez miscontrols Nicolas Otamendi's pass.
Argentina 0-0 Australia
Mat Ryan and Mathew Leckie are both making their 10th appearance at the World Cup, the first Australian players to do so.
Ryan's goal-kick goes straight to an Argentine.

The noise never really stops with the Argentina fans over the course of 90 minutes. It might change and go up and down but their support is constant. Let's see if it changes if Australia spring a surprise and score a goal.

It's 84-16% on possession so far.
