Kaustubh: With all due respect to Messi and Co, put Courtois/Alisson or any other half decent GK between the posts for Aussies and this is still 0-0.

Churreria: Overall fairly low quality stuff. England would steamroll Argentina.

Standing ovation for Argentina goalscorer Julian Alvarez as he's replaced by Lautaro Martinez up front.

Nicolas Tagliafico replaces Marcos Acuna too.

Australia legend Tim Cahill is watching on.

Cahill tipped Qatar to reach the World Cup quarter-finals. Just a coincidence I'm sure that he's a 'Qatar Legacy Ambassador'.

Marcos Acuna has his head in his hands. He beats Milos Degenek and could be in on goal but the officials rule he fouled Degenek to get there.

Peter: Clearly Australia need Schwarzer back in the game. Anyone got his number? Awful mistake from Ryan!

Anon: So disappointing for Australia, they were actually performing really well before that keeper error. Now they need to really push to get back into this.

Jake: Mat Ryan will get the blame, I know. But why don't the defenders take more responsibility rather than always passing it to the goalkeeper? Surely the defender could see Alvarez and Otamendi were close by to cause problems?

TheBrightonBard: It’s hard enough to beat Argentina anyway, but when you gift them a goal…

TheBaron: They rolled out the welcome Mat there.

Ashic: First goal, Champions League. Second goal, Sunday League.

Marcos Acuna whips in a wonderful ball from the left which Julian Alvarez can't quite reach in the middle.

Now Lionel Messi shoots high and wide from 20 yards.

One more Argentina goal and this game is totally done. It *feels* done now in truth.

The Alvarez goal (the bigger of the two yellow dots) has an xG of 0.257. That means on average, it is a chance that would be scored 25 or 26 times out of 100.

In xG terms that is still a good chance but it does suggest it wasn't quite as straightforward for the Manchester City striker as he made it look...

Lionel Messi of a decade ago was almost back there. He runs from midfield, beating several players, before a give and go around the box and beating a couple more. He's tackled before he can finish off a wonder goal though.

Australia need a reaction, obviously disappointing to concede the second goal. Just need a reaction. Remain concentrated and try and play on the front foot a little more.
