England might be dominating possession, but Senegal have had the two best chances.

Harry Maguire's poor pass allows Senegal to drive forward. The cross comes in and Boulaye Dia's volley is blocked by John Stones' knee.

The ball then drops for Ismaila Sarr, who is under pressure with Pickford diving out, but should still hit the target. Instead he lifts his shot over.

John Stones looked at Declan Rice after that header. He was almost blinded from the ball by him at the near post. England have dominated this match so far but they haven't had a big chance. The fans are waiting for that moment.

Stones just took his eye off the ball and it hit him on his shoulder. Whether his team-mate Declan Rice was in his eye line but it was a perfect delivery from Phil Foden on his left foot.

Oh, they almost do too.

John Stones darts to where the ball is swung but he connects with his shoulder and sends the ball over the net.

Senegal make a mistake, thinking a dribbling ball is going out for a goal-kick. It's an England corner, though.

The lads in green will be fuming if they concede now.

I can guarantee you, we're all going to be hearing this eclectic drum-trumpet mix in our heads as we try to get to sleep tonight.

I thought Harry Maguire just about got away with that one. He had his body across Ndiaye and I think he should have dealt with that better. That will give him confidence that he can beat Maguire with a yard of pace. England have to be careful.

Again an England attack of promise fizzles out because of a poor pass. It allows Senegal to break but Harry Maguire mops up. He was getting pulled back by Iliman Ndiaye too.

A sign of Senegal's growing frustration at seeing so little of the ball is that they are committing more and more niggly fouls.

The first couple of times Kane has had the ball, his spatial awareness hasn't been quite as sharp as we expect. Just wondering whether he has quite got into the rhythm of this game yet.

This is the kind of confident, controlling play we have come to witness more and more often from England.

They are dominating possession and territory. They just haven't found a final ball yet.

England are just starting to really apply the pressure and keeping Senegal penned in their own half. Kane fires it across the face, it's a superb ball and Saka is just a yard off that. Otherwise, any contact on his head and that's in the back of the net.

Harry Kane is dumped on the turf after holding the ball up and finding a team-mate. It was Abdou Diallo with the late tackle and it gets him a ticking off from the ref.

Kane has started well. Dropping deep, pulling strings.
