Luka Modric is orchestrating the game. He will control it.

He has been helped by the system Brazil are playing with two midfielders against three.

Modric is finding all sorts of space.

Croatia have the ball and quickly slice open the Brazil defence with an incisive pass down the left flank from Borna Sosa.

That takes out the Brazil midfield but Thiago Silva is alert and beats Ivan Perisic to clear.

Matty: Juranović is having the game of his life out there. Croatia well on top so far, but it'll only take Brazil one opportunity to score.

Mick: Brazil may well win this but Croatia have certainly burst the bubble of the South Americans being the best thing since sliced bread.

Oliver: This Brazil team is incredible. Skilful in attack, solid at the back, sharp through midfield, quick to press... and yet I reckon Croatia are winning this 2-1. Just one of those teams that really, really don't like to lose.

The Brazil fans don't like it when Croatia start spraying passes around - they just responded with the same volume (almost) of whistling as we saw in this same stadium from Morocco supporters when Spain had the ball in their last-16 tie.

To be fair, Brazil are winning the ball back a lot quicker than Morocco managed, so it is not such a test of their whistling stamina so far.

Right then... Brazil win a free-kick on the left corner of the Croatia box.

Neymar and Raphinha stand over the ball, exchanging glances and words as they cook up a plan...

It's Neymar... straight into the keeper's hands.

A midfield masterclass from Croatia so far.

Casemiro just stops with the ball about 40 yards out from the Croatia goal.

Generously, he's being patient. Less generously, he's not sure what to do with it.

Brazil had more possession, but Croatia were able to use theirs to create pressure on the Brazil goal, whereas Brazil struggled to do that and passed around the back and midfield a lot.

However, they have grown into the game and turned that possession in more sustained pressure on the Croatia goal.

Not sure it's worthy of being described as 'scrappy' but we are lacking quality in the final third.

Croatia's Marcelo Brozovic sloppily lets the ball run out over the goal-line just as his side worked themselves into a promising attacking position.

A boot clear eases the pressure for Croatia.

This looks like a very close game.

The two teams are very well matched at the moment. There’s not a great deal between them.

So far it’s been OK from Brazil and not much more than that.

And here is the best chance of the game so far....

Brazil are shading possession at 54%, but it is Croatia who have looked the most likely to score, to be honest.
