Ooof! Talk about a cynical foul. Croatia's Marcelo Brozvic goes into the book for dumping over Neymar.

Still warning signs at the other end for Brazil.
Ivan Perisic slashes a wild effort from distance that troubles the ball kids more than Alisson.

May be somewhat premature and unjustified but I have the sneaking suspicion this Brazil team may lack the real ‘superstar’, best in the world players to really see this (wining the World Cup) through. Very exciting but lacking something for me.
Nick
Brazil may have thought they only had to turn up today to win today but I think Croatia have other ideas.

Why is it when a team isn't prepared to just sit and admire Brazil but is actually good enough to match them and take the game to them, it's always Brazil off the pace? So disingenuous towards Croatia. Always suspected this Brazil side would get found out against a half decent team.

I wouldn't call them glimposes of goal, but Brazil do spend a little bit more time in Croatia territory.
First Neymar stands over a free-kick which is not very fruitful, while Lucas Paqueta can only get a glance on a header that is nowhere near troubling Croatia keeper Dominik Livakovic.

Brazil striker Richarlison is not always dropping deep - in fact he rarely does - that graphic below (on 20 minutes) just showed where he is touching the ball. If you watch him, even when the ball is down the other end (so not visible on TV), he is more often found lurking on the shoulder of the last man, on the front foot and facing forwards, waiting for the ball over the top for him to run on to.
It doesn't always come... which is why the average position of his 10 touches so far (including a header at his own near post to clear a Croatia corner) is much deeper than his actual position on the pitch during play.

Wondered whether the right-hand side was where Croatia could have some success.
Now Danilo - more of a right-back than a left-back - has more than an hour to play on a yellow.
As those who specialise in football cliches might say... a disciplinary tightrope.

Josip Juranovic's holding his head, he has a terrible head injury.
Did he get hit in the head? No.
Nothing drives me more mad than that. Don’t feign head injuries.

Luka Modric swings in the ball, but a Brazil head nods it clear.

It's definitely dangerous play, really dangerous.
What saves Danilo is that he gets the ball first, if he doesn't he is bang in trouble.
Croatia 0-0 Brazil
Ouch! Croatia's Josip Juranovic bounds forward again down the right and is unceremoniously dumped on the turf by Danilo's high boot.
The Croats want red, the ref Michael Oliver says yellow.
More worringly for Brazil, Croatia have a free-kick in a dangerous position.
Luka Modric licks his lips and considers up his options...
Croatia 0-0 Brazil
Brazil have ramped things up. Croatia get nto a muddle at the back and concede a corner.
But Raphinha's delivery is not as good as it should be and the Croats clear.
Then they win a free-kick outside their box to further ease the pressure.

Richarlison is one of these guys that chases pigeons. He chases everything.
But he’s not chasing Josko Gvardiol. You don’t get easy possession off these types of players.

In two of Brazil's four matches so far at this World Cup, the opposition (Serbia and Switzerland) didn't manage a shot on target in 90 minutes... Croatia have not quite managed one of those themselves yet, but they have already shown more attacking intent - and threat - than those two nations combined.
Their pocket of fans have made themselves heard too, especially when that dangerous Mario Pasalic cross fizzed across the face of the Brazil goal.
Croatia 0-0 Brazil
Now the Brazil fans are able to raise the volume as their players raise their intensity.
Vinicius Junior cuts in from the left, plays a one-two with Richarlison but fires a shot straight at Josko Gvardiol.
Moments later, Neymar shoots tamely at the Croatia keeper.
Croatia 0-0 Brazil
Brazil forward Richarlison (pink, nine), who has scored three goals so far in the tournament, is having to drop very deep at the moment.
It's not a major problem for Brazil, though. They've still got four players ahead of him!
Croatia aren't afraid to get their full-backs (black 19 and 22) forward. Will Brazil's forwards follow them?
Croatia 0-0 Brazil
Another attempted attack from Brazil breaks down when Richarlison drops to collect the ball but is hustled out of possession.

Josko Gvardiol is a joy.
It’s like watching a Rolls-Royce. That guy is brilliant.
Croatia 0-0 Brazil
Brazil's best work so far has come when they have sprayed the ball out wide from the back.
Again they go to the well of Vinicius Junior, who tries an outside of the boot cross.
But guess who's there? Yep, Josko Gvardiol.

Brazil are stuck in first gear at the moment.

They are off it Brazil, they need to wake up.
Brilliant from Modric again, Casemiro thinks he has way too much time.
