    Morocco 0-0 Portugal

Portugal were 2-0 up at this stage in their last match against Switzerland. They've been limited to one or two half chances although Joao Felix did force Bono into a fine save in the fourth minute.

Another chance falls Felix's way but he lifts it high and wide.

  2. Morocco more precise than Portugal?published at 15:39 Greenwich Mean Time 10 December 2022

Portugal are not afraid to launch it occasionally - I guess they are thinking if they can't play through this Morocco side, they may as well play the ball over them.

Morocco are actually picking the more precise passes when they pour forward on the break. They have only had 30% of the ball so far, but they are making it count, and the roar their fans make when they attack shows how much they love it.

    Morocco 0-0 Portugal

Around seven minutes plus stoppages before the interval. Morocco do not want half-time to come. They are enjoying their best spell going forward and their pace is causing Portugal problems.

When Morocco break they just all go, they don't think about defending at that point. They go as a unit. Although Portugal have had more of the ball you can just see that Morocco are happy with the way things are going right now.

No doubt about it, Morocco are growing in confidence.

Selim Amallah will feel he should have done better from 10 yards out after connecting with a cross.

Then Sofiane Boufal brings a save from Diogo Costa but it's fairly routine stuff for the Portugal keeper.

Only Kylian Mbappe (7) and Lionel Messi (6) have been involved in as many goals as Bruno Fernandes (2 goals, 3 assists) at this World Cup.

It's been a quiet start for Fernandes who has yet to have an attempt in this game.

    Morocco 0-0 Portugal

Portugal have made it into Morocco's final third on 21 occasions after half an hour. Morocco have only done so five times.

The gap narrows when you look at touches in the box, though, as Portugal only have six compared to Morocco's five.

  9. Play to the whistle - but which one?published at 15:32 Greenwich Mean Time 10 December 2022

The Morocco fans are whistling so loudly when Portugal have a corner, the players can't hear the actual referee's whistle when he wants to stop play.

    Almost!

Joao Felix has looked sharp going forward and he almost unlocks the Moroccan defence with a first time shot which deflects off Jawad El Yamiq and flies narrowly over the bar.

    Corner to Portugal.

I have not seen any teams playing at the pace of Moroccans. Get the ball, start charging towards the goal.. entertaining to watch.

The TV cameras zoom in on the Portugal bench and pick out a stern looking Cristiano Ronaldo. He doesn't look impressed with what he has seen so far.

    Half a chance for Morocco.

Youssef En-Nesyri rises high to meet a set-piece but his header flies over the bar.

They've still to test Portugal keeper Diogo Costa in what has so far been a cagey game.

    Ouch!

Bono goes up to pluck a cross out of the air but is completely flattened by Bruno Fernandes.

The referee races over to the two players. It's fair to say Morocco's players were not impressed with Fernandes for that.

It was a rather even opening quarter of an hour in this one. The majority of the play has taken place in the middle of the park.

Morocco win their second corner. Judging by the noise, you would think they had scored. What a din.

  19. Spain went sideways, Portugal play forwardpublished at 15:20 Greenwich Mean Time 10 December 2022

    Morocco 0-0 Portugal

    Chris Bevan
BBC Sport at Al Thumama Stadium

It's early days but Portugal already look like they have more attacking ideas than Spain did on Tuesday evening.

They are are dominating possession just the same, but they have wide men running behind the Morocco defence all the time and look most dangerous when they go long and try to find them, which hasn't quite happened yet. You might remember Spain played safe and went sideways far too often.

Portugal still have to watch Morocco on the break though.
