England win Euro 2022
Lionesses skipper Leah Williamson hopes to inspire the next generation following England's Euro 2022 triumph.
"Dreams turn into reality and I think that is one of the most inspiring things," she says.
"We would've been inspired by so much growing up but now hopefully there's a generation of people that will be inspired by us."

England win Euro 2022
The co-head teacher at the school attended by Lionesses’ defender Lucy Bronze has spoken of his pride at the team’s achievement, and said he hopes it will inspire future generations to chase their dreams. Alan Rogers, co-head at Duchess’s Community High School in Alnwick, Northumberland, joined the school in 2010, after Bronze had left to take up a scholarship in the United States, but said the Barcelona right back’s legacy remains strong at the school.
“All the school community are so used to talking about the girls, they expect them to win things and be winning world football - it's been part of the history for the last 10 years. They've inspired so many at the school,” he told the BBC.
“It’s the ‘Sir Roger Bannister’ effect. It’s the whole sense that they’re normal human beings who worked really hard and have a talent and done what they want to do and taken their chances.
"If we can help other children to think like that then I think that’s the job of schools full-stop – chasing dreams and not giving up, and all those great things that children need to have.”

Davestwin: I am English but have lived in America the last 24 years. I watched all the games. Took afternoons off work to watch England play. Getting goosebumps just reading the updates from BBC Sport. So, so happy that the women got the win.
Kerys Harrop, Tottenham Hotspur Women centre-back, says investment "is a key reason" for the Lionesses winning the Euros.
The Women's Super League turned fully professional in 2018 and Barclays agreed a multi-million sponsorship deal for the league in 2019.
"The girls have been able to train full-time as professional footballers, instead of also having to hold down a part-time job too," adds Harrop.
"I’m sure that after the success of the Lionesses last night, the interest from big investors will increase significantly."

I thought I would never see England win a trophy again. But thanks to these great women I can now be happy. So thank you from the bottom of my heart.

There are 18 Lionesses who played for England this summer.
Here are five names you've probably been hearing a lot about since last night.
Chloe Kelly became an instant national hero after she scored England's winning goal against Germany in the final.
Kelly's club is Manchester City and her Women's Super League season starts against Arsenal on 11 September, where she may face fellow England teammate...
Beth Mead, who won the award for the best player at Euro 2022 and also the Golden Boot after scoring six goals in as many games.
She plays for Arsenal alongside England's Nikita Parris and also...
Leah Williamson. She's England's captain and has made more than 100 passes above the tally of anybody else in Euro 2022.
Next up, Ella Toone, who scored England's stunning first goal in the final - a chipped finish over the head of the German goalkeeper.
The Manchester United player also scored a vital late equaliser against Spain to keep England in the tournament. United start their season against Tottenham on 11 September.
England goalkeeper Mary Earps, whose club is also Manchester United, made several crucial saves during last night's final.
She played every minute of England's campaign, only conceding two goals in the tournament.

Cheesoid: Chloe Kelly was hilarious. First she gets booked for taking her shirt off after she scored and then steals the mic mid interview to run off and sing Sweet Caroline. Well done, Lionesses!

Former England and Manchester City goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live
When you are a little girl putting on your first shirt and going to your first game, going back through the memory bank to bring you to yesterday and seeing England get across the line, it's unbelievable.
Going forward we need to make sure football is accessible to all girls and boys in primary schools. Now there is no excuse because we have seen the fruits of the labour that has already happened.

Sarina Wiegman has shown us how to use substitutes. Successive English managers could learn from her!

Last night and the tournament overall was just a magnificent show. The girls have been outstanding. They have played every single game with smiles on their faces and they have been exceptional role models.
Sarina Wiegman has showed to the world how to manage modern footballers and big moments.
The fantastic thing for me is that people are talking about the football purely and simply because it has been very good.

BBC commentator on BBC Radio 5 Live
It was Lucy Bronze who said this will probably only sink in at the end of her career. The ability to do something that no England women's side has done before...game changing is a phrase that we use a lot in this industry. But this really is a game changing moment.

Harriet Butler: I went to the final with my sister. The atmosphere was fantastic, everyone was behind the Lionesses. Singing Three Lions at full time was magical. It’s a day we will never forget.
Best day of my life - I WAS THERE - with my dad and sister, amazing atmosphere. Being an Everton fan, not sure it's something I'll ever experience again.

Anti-racism campaigner Shaista Aziz says she’s “never seen such a diverse crowd" attending a football match at Wembley.
Speaking to 5 Live’s Nicky Campbell, she says the atmosphere at the final was “electric, brilliant and it felt really safe”.
“I spoke to a group of hijabi women who said it was the first time they could come to Wembley, and they felt safe to be there,” she says.
“The legacy of this magnificent win has to be proper funding for the women and girls football, and also this port has to be accessible for everyone.
“We’ve seen really horrific bad behaviour in relation to football – a year ago we saw our England players being subjected to grotesque levels of racism… a year later this was a carnival of football, humanity, hope and happiness.”

England's Ella Toone has been giving a flavour of the post-match celebrations in the dressing room and back at the team hotel following the Lionesses' Euro 2022 triumph.
“Everyone is dancing, beers flying everywhere, there’s Abba, Celine Dion. The bus back to the hotel, there was partying. Everyone was everywhere on tables and chairs.
“We had pizza post-match, they treated us with canapes. I didn’t have any. I had a bit of pizza and just beer. Players and staff were on the bus. We got back to the hotel and all our friends and family were there and we danced."

Thanks to Gabby Logan’s closing remarks last night, and the performances of the players of course, I now have my first season ticket for Liverpool! For a season of football and cup games inc, it’s a ridiculous bargain. Come on you red women!

England's Fran Kirby has been talking to BBC Sport.
Asked about the 2023 World Cup, she says: “I think we should take time to reflect on this one first, enjoy this one before we start thinking about that.
"Yes, of course there's going to be a lot of expectation going into that, but we have an amazing squad, we have an amazing manager, so yeah, we're really excited.”
