    Chelsea 1-0 Tottenham

And out of nowhere Tottenham have a great chance to draw level.

Eric Dier rolls the ball into the path of Harry Kane, putting the England striker through on goal, but somehow he drags his shot horribly wide. Ugly finish that, he won't want to see that again.

Wow... One nil down at half-time and the end of the world prophecies start from the Spurs haters! In Conte we trust.

    Chelsea 1-0 Tottenham

    Phil McNulty

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has cut a very animated figure in his technical area but he has just made time to clear up some plastic bottles on the touchline and place them neatly back in their container.

    Small details.

Spurs are still pretty flat... and here comes their first change.

I've been so impressed with Jorginho, N'Golo Kante and Thiago Silva. They've been outstanding, the senior players. They've really stepped up for this game.

Spurs have to hang on, any slip-up from Chelsea and they can be back in the game.

Chelsea win a corner on the left. They play it short before Raheem Sterling's cross is cleared and then Hugo Lloris has to tip over a cross by Mason Mount. Another Chelsea corner.

    Chelsea 1-0 Tottenham

Tottenham have won just one of their last 37 away matches against Chelsea in all competitions (drawn 12, lost 24), a 3-1 win in April 2018 in the Premier League.

Will be amazed if they manage to get another win today.

    HT: Chelsea 1-0 Tottenham

Here's two ominous stats for Tottenham...

Chelsea are unbeaten in their last seven Premier League matches when leading at half-time (won five, drawn two) dating back to 4 December 2021 against West Ham United (lost 2-3).

Chelsea haven't lost at home in the Premier League when leading at half-time since October 2011 against Arsenal, when Robin van Persie scored a hat-trick in a 5-3 win for the Gunners (won 78, drawn 18 since then).

Can Spurs fight back? Hit thumbs up for yes, down for no.

As much as Conte wants to convince us that we have moved forward, we still have an inferiority complex against certain teams. I don't believe the team thought or thinks it can boss Chelsea.

It's exciting to see Chelsea play in this manner. Spurs are still in the game and performing better than in previous games but Chelsea are still outshining them.

Kalidou Koulibaly has attempted three shots, more than any other player on either team.

Mason Mount has attempted four tackles, also more than any other player on either team (ahead of Christian Romero - three tackles).

  19. 'We reintroduced the club on the Premier League stage'published at 17:27 British Summer Time 14 August 2022

    FT: Forest 1-0 West Ham

    Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest manager Steve Cooper to BBC Match of the Day 2: "I thought we deserved to win for the way we played in the first half – I thought we were excellent, by far the better team and really took the game to West Ham.

"We got a good goal, maybe not in the last bit in terms of how it’s gone in but in terms of the build-up and how we got into the position that we wanted to be in.

"So we were good for going 1-0 up and the second half was always going to be about what it was. We did have some chances from set-plays and we did get into some decent areas but the game was going to be more about keeping a clean sheet.

"It was so hot, it was such an influence on the game. The guys who had played 97 minutes in that, it was a real effort. So we showed a lot of heart and soul.

"There were loads of good positives and it was the first game back here, we reintroduced the club on the Premier League stage, which is the world stage and that’s really important.

"The Brian Clough Stand is one that a lot of people remember from the early years in the Premier League so it’s great to give the fans that moment of ‘yeah, here we are’.

"It’s important in any season that you get your first win, your first point and particularly this season, being back in the Premier League. A lot of eyes are on us, there’s been a lot of talk about the amount of change we’ve had to make to the squad – not by choice but by necessity."

  20. 'We should have got far more out of it'published at 17:26 British Summer Time 14 August 2022

    FT: Forest 1-0 West Ham

    West Ham United

    David MoyesImage source, Getty Images

West Ham boss David Moyes to BBC Match of the Day 2: “We didn’t start well at all. But once we did, we should have got far, far more out of the game that what we ended up with.

“I’m not really going to talk about it [Said Benrahma's disallowed goal] – there will be a lot of opinions about it, we’ve got ours, the referee makes the decision and I don’t want to come on here and whinge about the referees too much.

“What was hugely frustrating was how we conceded the first goal – that was worse than that [the Benrahma goal being disallowed]. We can accept things not going for us, that’s part of football, but I can’t accept defending the way we did leading up to that goal.

“But we had enough chances that we could have eradicated a defensive lapse by the goals we should have scored – we hit the bar a couple of times, missed quite a few chances, missed a penalty as well. That defensive lapse could have been forgotten about and put aside, but today it counted.

On whether Scott McKenna should have been red-card for his handball: “You better ask the referee about it [the handball resulting in only a yellow card]. My feeling was we should have scored from the cut-back – that was a big opportunity. But after having a look it definitely looks like a deliberate handball – the action is to go to stop it going in the net."
