    Bournemouth 0-2 Arsenal

Does it go down as a save?

Chris Mepham's flicked header is caught by Aaron Ramsdale.

Then the Arsenal goalkeeper mis-cues the kick upfield with Jaidon Anthony close by, but Jefferson Lerma cannot take advantage as he blasts over.

It's not what you know it's who you know. Arteta has been given a massive helping hand from his former club with two key signings, Arsenal and their inexperienced manager buying themselves a few points this year...it won't last.

Lovely to see both Arsenal and Spurs fans getting carried away with their teams after, what, 3 games or less. Such undiluted optimism is always heartening.

Much better from Bournemouth and it brings the crowd to life too but Adam Smith's cross is not on the money, headed away by Gabriel.

All this chat about Arsenal challenging City is absolutely excruciating. They've won three not particularly hard games...

    Victor, London

Literally never seen a fan base get more carried away. Beaten Palace, the worst Leicester side in a decade and had a good 30 mins v Bournemouth. Apparently now challenging for the title.

    Matt, Norfolk

Whoever does the fixtures is obviously an Arsenal fan, playing all the bottom half teams first until they play Spurs on October 1st! Amazing that Arsenal fans get so carried away.

    Bournemouth 0-2 Arsenal

Bournemouth have already done more in this half than the entire first 45 minutes.

Jefferson Lerma meets a cross at the far post and sends it back towards goal, but Gabriel's attempted clearance loops high into the air and Aaron Ramsdale gathers.

Arsenal fans, you're playing Bournemouth, not Man City! Shows how far you've fallen when you're getting giddy over beating a newly promoted side! Tragic.

    Loz

Arsenal have beaten Palace and Leicester and lead Bournemouth. Hardly a marker of potential title contenders is it. Some people need to get a grip.

Arsenal look good but one injury to Jesus or one or two losses and they will fall away. Expect top four challenge till March then fall off and finish 5th or 6th.

Rob: A friendly reminder that Everton’s striker issue isn’t going to get cheaper the longer they wait—especially if they’re targeting quality players.

  10. 'We deserved to win'published at 18:28 British Summer Time 20 August 2022

    FT: Everton 1-1 Nottingham Forest

    Everton

Everton manager Frank Lampard speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "It’s a point and it's a first on the board. We deserved points in our first two games in my opinion and we deserved to win today.

"It's not that Forest didn't compete, they did but when you create 19 chances at home and the quality of chance we had... it’s very difficult to gain control if you don’t take them. That affects the game. We’re not doing that at the moment so we’ll take the point.

"There were elements I was happy with and other elements not so much but that's normal early in the season. We’ve lost some big players at the top of the pitch. We’re looking to correct that quickly but that’s not easy.

"On another day, we score more goals. We know that's an area of the pitch to improve on."

Arsenal are failing to keep Gabriel Jesus in the game, we haven't seen much of him after the first 15 minutes. The more they do come in the second half the more goals will come.

Scott Parker will definitely be looking for a reaction from his players in the second half.

J0ck0: Comical how Arsenal are questionable for top four but Spurs are certain to make it, are people actually watching these teams play?

Paul: I know it's early doors, and we still need to play, Chelsea, Liverpool & Man City, but certainly a better start than last season.

It really is like a boxing match out there.

Bournemouth striker Kieffer Moore has a bloodied nose after an inadvertent hand in the face from Gabriel.

The Wales striker needs to go back to his stool and have a sponge applied to the knock.

Should be fine to carry on, no white towel thrown in. Yet.
