Leeds' first shot. It comes from an angle just outside the box from Dan James. It flies well over. The winger was sent off the last time these two met here.

Soon after, Jack Harrison does manage to test Edouard Mendy with a shot straight at him after cutting back on to his right foot.

That Sterling effort is a real warning shot for Leeds. They can't give the England forward openings like that. He's unlikely to miss many.

First chance and it's taken just a minute. Said Benrahma takes advantage of a dreadful Brighton crossfield ball, runs down the left and then cuts inside and curls wide from 25 yards out.

    And away we go.

In Yorkshire, it is the renewal of an old rivalry. In London, it's a clash between two sides considered by many the best outside the top six.

    Expect some fireworks.

    • West Ham have won none of their 10 Premier League games against Brighton (D6 L4) – it’s the most they have ever faced an opponent without winning, and the most Brighton have faced one without defeat.
    • Brighton have never failed to score in 10 previous meetings with West Ham (W4 D6) – however, they’ve only kept two clean sheets in those 10 games, and in none of the past seven.
    • In Premier League history, only Aston Villa (160) have lost more home games than West Ham (159). This will be the Hammers’ 500th home game in the competition - the ninth team to reach that landmark. None of the previous eight lost their milestone match (W5 D3).
    • The Seagulls are unbeaten in their previous seven league games. Only once have they had a longer unbeaten run in the top flight, going eight without defeat in October and November 1981.

    • Leeds are winless in seven Premier League games against Chelsea (D2 L5), since a 2-0 victory at Elland Road back in December 2002.
    • Chelsea won 3-0 at Elland Road last season in the league but have never won consecutive away league visits to the Whites in their entire history.
    • Since the Whites lost 3-0 to Chelsea at Elland Road in May, the two sides have identical records in the Premier League (P4 W2 D2 L0). The Whites had a five-match unbeaten run as recently as March and April this year.
    • Since Thomas Tuchel’s first away Premier League match in charge of Chelsea in February 2021, only Man City (23) have won more away games than the Blues (19), conceding just 17 times on the road, the fewest of any ever-present side in that time.
  13. Sutton's predictionpublished at 13:53 British Summer Time 21 August 2022

    Leeds v Chelsea (14:00 BST)

It's the third week of Chris Sutton predicting the Premier League results and he is hoping to earn his first win against Bad Boy Chiller Crew's GK after losses to Alistair Bruce-Ball and Serge Pizzorno.

    Chris SuttonImage source, BBC Sport

    Sutton's prediction: 0-1

Leeds boss Jesse Marsch will have been deeply disappointed to see his side pegged back by Southampton after going two goals up, and I think he might have to deal with another setback here.

There are still a few question marks over what is going on with Chelsea up front, and they keep getting linked with new players too, but they were excellent against Spurs last week.

If they play like that at Elland Road, they will win.

    GK's prediction: 0-3

  14. 'Tuchel driven by tactics'published at 13:52 British Summer Time 21 August 2022

    Leeds v Chelsea (14:00 BST)

    Nedum Onuoha
Former Manchester City defender on BBC 5 Live

Thomas Tuchel is driven by tactics and player understanding so instead of saying to Conor Gallagher do what you do, its do what we want you to do. Gallagher has to be play the role Tuchel wants, he'll want to be more on the front foot and be attacking but I'm sure we won't see as much as that today as we have in the past where he's been a free spirit. He doesn't have to be N'Golo Kante, he has to do the job required, if sometimes that's to be alongside Jorginho that's great. He's being entrusted to do the job as opposed to be an individual in that team.

  15. Can Tuchel keep his cool?published at 13:51 British Summer Time 21 August 2022

    Leeds v Chelsea (14:00 BST)

    Alistair Magowan
    BBC Sport at Elland Road

Fresh from his touchline tantrums with Spurs boss Antonio Conte, Thomas Tuchel comes up against Jesse Marsch, who has already had a run-in with Wolves boss Bruno Lage this season.

Tuchel is already facing a one-match ban, so may be on his best behaviour today, but a roaring Elland Road can get a grip of the coolest coaches in the land and give them a proper test of their temperaments.

Handing Conor Gallagher his full debut is a further show of faith in the youngster, who was at loan at Crystal Palace last season and made his Chelsea debut from the subs bench at Everton.

Gallagher said he had a chat with Tuchel during the pre-season which convinced him his time was coming. Today will be a big chance to repay that faith, especially as N'Golo Kante is out for few weeks with an injury.

  16. 'Football’s a passionate game'published at 13:50 British Summer Time 21 August 2022

Newcastle's Callum Wilson and West Ham's Michail Antonio agreed that players are influenced by a manager's behaviour on the touchline, as they discussed the issue in the latest episode of The Footballers Football Podcast.

After the clash between Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel and Tottenham counterpart Antonio Conte at full-time following a feisty London derby on Sunday, Antonio said: "If it gets like that, you do want to run through a brick wall, you do want to smash somebody.

"It’s like, ‘yeah, they’re on it. Let’s have a brawl as much as we can.’ We’re all together, 11 men on the field, so it does bring that fight.

"You could see it in the game.”

Despite some people condemning the heated exchange between the managers, Wilson found it "refreshing" to watch. "It’s refreshing that it’s not just shake hands and move on," he added.

"Football’s a passionate game at the end of the day.”

  17. Touchline touchinesspublished at 13:49 British Summer Time 21 August 2022

    Leeds v Chelsea (14:00 BST)

Bruno Lage and Jesse MarschImage source, Getty Images

Thomas Tuchel probably doesn't want any touchline chaos today. But in Leeds boss Jesse Marsch he has a manager who does not like to take a backward step and has shown already this season that he's not afraid to get under an opposition manager's skin.

In Leeds' opening game of the season, the American and Wolves' Bruno Lage had a few fiery words at full-time when the former went to shake the latter's hand.

Neither really wanted to address is after, other than Lage suggesting Marsch had said something during the game that "you cannot say".

It certainly never reached the levels we saw last Sunday. But it does show that in the heat of this afternoon's battle, tempers could again start to fray.

  18. 'I want Gallagher to stay and become an outstanding success'published at 13:47 British Summer Time 21 August 2022

We asked you whether Conor Gallagher has a place in Chelsea's first team and if you think he'll still be playing for the club past the transfer window.

Here are some of your comments:

Neil: Normal Chelsea policy is to ship out promising young players and spend ridiculous amounts on players way past their prime. I expect Gallagher to be loaned out again until he's tired of Chelsea and moves on.

Ron: I am a great believer in things happening for a reason. Conor Gallagher has the opportunity to come into the Leeds game and play like he did at Palace. There was a time when he came on against Spurs and he passed to Mount but was in a good position to shoot. I want to see him take on responsibility and replicate his Palace form.

Neil: All the Chelsea faithful and I want Conor to stay and be an outstanding success with us. He has the ability to be a great player and has Chelsea in his heart. Keep it going Conor!

Rod: If Chelsea loan out or sell Gallagher they deserve no better than a mid-table finish. Just look at the young, loyal players they have sold and now are top class. Then there's the millions of pounds wasted on rubbish replacements but as usual it's the same old Chelsea.

  20. 'Unfair to expect too much from Scamacca too soon'published at 13:46 British Summer Time 21 August 2022

West Ham v Brighton (14:00 BST)

It would be unfair to expect too much too soon from summer signing Gianluca Scamacca, says West Ham boss David Moyes.

The Italian striker, a £30.5m signing from Sassuolo this summer, scored his first goal for the club in the 3-1 win over Danish club Viborg in Thursday's Europa Conference League qualifying play-off tie.

The 23-year-old is still awaiting his first Premier League start, with West Ham hosting Brighton on Saturday.

"I think in time he will (have an impact)," said Moyes. "If we are going to judge him quickly, I don't think that is fair.

"We will be trying to bring him into the Premier League gradually and we will look to do that as we go along.

"He will get to know us better, we will get to know him. But we have seen enough from him to suggest he has a lot of things going for him and hopefully he will help us."

Moyes admitted the club were keen on adding another left-back to the squad, but would not be drawn on suggestions of a move for Chelsea's Emerson.

"I wouldn't talk about players at other clubs until they become my player," added the Scot.

"We would like somebody in that left-back area to help Cressy (Aaron Cresswell) and give us some more cover there - we have not had it, but I wouldn't talk about any individual players from any other clubs."
