  1. 'A challenge we should embrace'published at 19:06 British Summer Time 31 August 2022

Manchester City v Nottingham Forest (19:30 BST)

Forest have lost their last six Premier League fixtures against the reigning champions by an aggregate score of 23-3.

However the rest of those were in the 1990s.

Boss Steve Cooper, who has led them to four points from four games, said: “We’re fully aware it’s tough but that’s why we wanted to be part of the Premier League.

"It’s a challenge we should embrace. Our team have always attacked challenges head on and we don’t want to be any different.”

Manchester City v Nottingham Forest (19:30 BST)

    Sutton's predictions

It is Manchester City at home, so I predict a high-scoring win but it is just whether they take the foot off their gas.

They are an incredible team. Newcastle took the game to them but they came back at them and did the same against Palace to get the win. Erling Haaland is scoring goals and I think Nottingham Forest will go and have a go but that will play into City's hands. I think they will get back to clean sheets here as well as getting the win.

    Sutton's prediction: 6-0

A timely boost for Newcastle to have new signing Alexander Isak available for the game against Liverpool.

The Sweden striker has joined from Real Sociedad but his move had been delayed because of a work permit issue, which has now been resolved.

Newcastle striker Callum Wilson, currently out injured with a hamstring issue, is relishing the competition.

"Any competition is welcome," Wilson said on the Footballer's Football podcast.

"The more the merrier. It’s healthy for the squad. He’s a young lad at the end of the day as well. The potential is going to be there, it’s not just a short term fix. It’s going to be a long term process and project for him."

  4. Team news - Isak makes Newcastle debutpublished at 19:00 British Summer Time 31 August 2022

    Liverpool v Newcastle (20:00 BST)

Jurgen Klopp opts not to make any changes to the Liverpool side who thrashed Bournemouth 9-0 at the weekend.

Joel Matip and Curtis Jones return to the bench for the hosts after missing the last three and four games respectively.

Liverpool XI: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson; Elliott, Fabinho, Henderson; Salah, Firmino, Diaz

Subs: Adrian, Davies, Milner, Jones, Tsimikas, Carvalho, Matip, Bajcetic, Phillips

Summer signing Alexander Isak makes his Newcastle debut after being granted his work permit today.

The 22-year-old joined last week but did not receive his permit in time for Sunday's 1-1 draw with Wolves. He replaces Chris Wood, who moves to the bench.

Eddie Howe makes three other changes to the starting line-up with Jamal Lascelles, Matt Targett and Ryan Fraser replacing Fabian Schar, Sven Botman and Allan Saint-Maximin, with the latter out of the side entirely.

  5. Alvarez gets his chancepublished at 18:58 British Summer Time 31 August 2022

Julian Alvarez has made a positive impression at Manchester City since his £14m summer move from River Plate.

Although most observers regard him as an understudy to Erling Haaland, tonight he gets his chance alongside the free scoring Norwegian.

Alvarez is effectively Gabriel Jesus' replacement, which, considering how well the Brazilian is doing at Arsenal, shows what manager Pep Guardiola thinks about the 22-year-old.

  6. Scamacca out with 'virus'published at 18:56 British Summer Time 31 August 2022

West Ham v Tottenham (19:45 BST)

    West Ham United

West Ham boss David Moyes tells BT Sport: "Every derby is different but means the same to supporters, everyone wants to win.

"Gianluca Scamacca has had a virus since the Aston Villa game, he is on antibiotics. It is not serious but one where he cannot play or be on the bench.

"Lucas Paqueta has not trained or passed the ball among these players yet, we have had to fill in forms, get visas, work permits and all that but we hope he will be a key player in the future. Sometimes you have to be patient and we hope to use him in the right moment."

West Ham v Tottenham (19:45 BST)

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham boss Antonio Conte to BT Sport: "West Ham are a really good team and are stronger at home. We have prepared well for the game and our expectation is a tough game.

"Rodrigo Bentancur had a little problem but will be available for Saturday. Yves Bissouma has played every game and a good opportunity for him to start, I am sure he will do well."

On leaving Richarlison on the bench again: "If you want to build a team to try to have a bit of ambition, you need to have a deep squad. We have started to think in this way in this transfer market. Good players improve the team and make it stronger."

    Bournemouth v Wolves (19:30 BST)

    Sutton's predictions

Bournemouth were shell-shocked, as their (now sacked) manager Scott Parker described his feelings and his team, by their 9-0 defeat to Liverpool and I thought they were a bit naive in that game.

Wolves will probably be smarting as they put in a good performance against Newcastle. They have so many good attacking players but they always have problems scoring goals. However, I think they will be a little too streetwise for Bournemouth and get the win here.

    Sutton's prediction: 0-1

  10. When Gorbachev was Presidentpublished at 18:48 British Summer Time 31 August 2022

Man City v Nottingham Forest (19:30BST)

    Simon Stone
BBC Sport at the Etihad Stadium

Mikhail Gorbachev was President of the Soviet Union the last time Nottingham Forest beat Manchester City in a top flight away game.

Gorbachev died overnight at the age of 91. He was still in his prime in November 1989, when Nigel Clough scored twice and Brian Rice also found the net in a memorable 3-0 win.

Forest did win away at City in what is now the Championship, and have also done so in both the FA and League Cups since that triumph.

I don't think even the most devoted Forest fan expects something similar from Steve Cooper's men tonight.

Good team news there for anybody who has wildcarded in fantasy football this week to have Gabriel Jesus, Erling Haaland and Harry Kane in their team. Hypothetically of course. *Ahem*

    West Ham v Tottenham

West Ham boss David Moyes makes three changes to the side that beat Aston Villa last time out.

Michail Antonio comes in for his 200th Premier League appearance, with Vladimir Coufal and Said Benrahma also starting.

Ben Johnson, Emerson Palmieri and Gianluca Scamacca - who is not involved at all - are the ones to make way.

Club record signing Lucas Paqueta is on the bench.

West Ham XI: Fabianski, Coufal, Kehrer, Zouma, Cresswell, Soucek, Rice, Benrahma, Fornals, Bowen, Antonio.

    West Ham v Tottenham

Tottenham make just one change to the side that won 2-0 at Nottingham Forest on Sunday.

Summer signing Yves Bissouma makes his full debut after four appearances off the bench, replacing Rodrigo Bentancur.

Fellow new recruit Richarlison remains on the bench.

Tottenham XI: Lloris, Royal, Sanchez, Dier, Davies, Perisic, Hojbjerg, Bissouma, Kulusevski, Son, Kane.

Arsenal have again been the target of several pundits claiming that they "over celebrated" after coming from behind to beat Fulham 2-1 on Saturday.

Richard Keys and Graeme Souness were both critical of the Arsenal squad and manager, with Keys claiming "Arsenal have won nothing" and "it’s only Fulham".

It will be interesting to see how Arsenal celebrate if they beat Aston Villa. I imagine the scenes might be bigger and louder than they were on Saturday if they can make it five wins out of five and remain top of the Premier League.

Arsenal v Aston Villa (19:30 BST)

    Sutton's predictions

I am really worried about Aston Villa and Steven Gerrard is under pressure. This is his team this season, they had a good start last term but fell away and their signings haven't paid off so far. Philippe Coutinho hasn't clicked and that is a major factor.

Arsenal, meanwhile, are absolutely flying. It was good how they came from behind to beat Fulham. They were maybe not at their absolute best but it was a good fightback by them and I love what Gabriel Jesus brings to them.

Martin Odegaard has also stepped up. He is leading by example and bringing goals and performances.

    Sutton's prediction: 3-0

Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has scored six goals in his first four Premier League appearances. Only Diego Costa (seven) netted more in his four matches in the competition.

The record for goals in a player’s first five games is held jointly by Mick Quinn and City legend Sergio Aguero (eight).

Haaland's father Alfie played for Forest between 1993 and 1997.

Two changes for Manchester City following their comeback victory over Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Julian Alvarez makes his first Premier League start since his summer arrival from River Plate, replacing Riyad Mahrez.

He starts along with Erling Haaland.

Meanwhile it is bad news for thousands of fantasy football managers as Kevin de Bruyne is benched, Ilkay Gundogan starting in his place.

Manchester City XI: Ederson; Walker, Dias, Stones, Cancelo; Gundogan, Rodri; Alvarez, Bernardo Silva, Foden; Haaland

Subs: Ortega Moreno, De Bruyne, Sergio Gomez, Mahrez, Palmer, Gomes, Lewis, Knight, Wilson-Esbrand

Steve Cooper makes three changes for Nottingham Forest after defeat at home to Spurs on Sunday.

Cheikhou Kouyate and Remo Freuler also come in, replacing Jesse Lingard and Steve Cook.

Nottingham Forest XI: Henderson; Worrall, McKenna, Kouyate; Williams, O'Brien, Yates, Lodi; Gibbs-White, Freuler; Johnson

    Gary O'NeilImage source, Getty Images

Gary O'Neil takes charge of Bournemouth tonight after the sacking of Scott Parker.

Parker was given the boot after the 9-0 defeat at Liverpool at the weekend - followed by his call for the board to buy more players.

The 16 goals they have shipped in their first four league fixtures is the most at this stage of a top-flight campaign since Arsenal in 1963.

Former Portsmouth and Middlesbrough midfielder O'Neil, 39, is a first-team coach at Bournemouth.

He will be assisted by development squad coaches Shaun Cooper and Tommy Elphick.
