GOAL - Newcastle 0-1 Bournemouthpublished at 61 mins

    Philip Billing

    Breakthrough!

Bournemouth stayed patient in that attack and find the opening goal to stun St James' Park into silence.

Jordan Zemura's cross to the near post is poked in by Philip Billing on the stretch.

Newcastle have work to do now but Bournemouth caretaker boss Gary O'Neil's gameplan is going precisely to plan.

Newcastle have had 70% possession and hit the post twice. Can they find the breakthrough? Can they find the £60m man Alexander Isak?

Newcastle have only won once this season you know.

They've only lost once as well but the rest have been draws.

They won't want to drop more points at home today.

The Magpies are attempting to step it up but Bournemouth are holding firm.

It's an easy save, but another one notched up by Neto as he catches Alexander Isak's header.

Fraser was just trying to ‘swaz’ it around the right-hand post. It certainly was close and he seemed to be annoyed that he couldn’t get it on target. Newcastle are really knocking on the door now.

  7. CLOSE!published at 49 mins

    Newcastle 0-0 Bournemouth

Lovely from Dominic Solanke, cutting right through the middle of the Newcastle midfield like a rugby league hooker.

The Bournemouth striker sizes one up from a long way out, but it bounces into the hands of Nick Pope.

  8. CLOSE!published at 48 mins

    Newcastle 0-0 Bournemouth

A very good opening for Newcastle following a flowing team move.

Bruno Guimaraes' pass is meant for Joelinton but misses the Brazilian and finds Ryan Fraser at the far edge of the box.

The Scotland international sets himself but a low shot is collected by Neto.

  12. 'We had good moments with the ball'published at 16:04 British Summer Time 17 September 2022

    FT: Wolves 0-3 Man City

    Wolves

Wolves boss Bruno Lage to BBC Sport: "It was a mistake with the ball [for the opening goal].

"After that we had good moments with the ball. We tried to create chances. We didn't have the chance and they scored a third to finish the game.

"After 30 minutes we had to play with 10 men against this team. We tried to do our best. It was a good talk at half-time. Second half we had a good idea to manage the game with the ball.

"For 20 minutes we played very well. After they scored we found the free man and pressured high. When they scored the third they closed the game."

On the red card: "I didn't see it. Even yesterday I saw a similar situation [in Villa v Southampton] - a player tries to play the ball and catches the other player and the game goes on."

On Diego Costa, who wasn't involved: "I think he will take a while. He needs more time to be able to compete at this level."

  13. 2-0 a 'dangerous' situationpublished at 16:01 British Summer Time 17 September 2022

    FT: Wolves 0-3 Man City

    Manchester City

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola to BBC Sport: "It is tough after the Champions League at this time against this team because they have incredible quality, I know how difficult it is to come here and win, but we started well. Sometimes that happens but we did that at Newcastle and then went behind but we got the second goal and the red card allowed us to control it. They had a good spell at 2-0 and at that score the game was in a dangerous situation.

"The people up front like to score goals for their confidence. Jack was aggressive one v one in the last games but today he scored, that was the only difference.

"We only have one player and two goalkeepers left during the international window so it is completely empty so everyone will stay at home or go on holiday."

  15. 'I needed that'published at 15:58 British Summer Time 17 September 2022

    FT: Wolves 0-3 Man City

    Manchester City

Manchester City midfielder Jack Grealish to BBC Sport: "I didn't know it [my goal] was so early. Perfect start, getting my first goal of the season. The most important thing was to get three points. Wolves are a great team. It's a tough place to come.

"It was nice to start like that. It's always nice to get an early goal. When you score an early goal your confidence is much higher. I needed that."

On Erling Haaland: "He's unbelievable. He's such a good guy, so good to be around. On the training ground everyone loves him. He's so humble. I get on really well with him. It helps he can put the ball in the net."

On the red card: "If I win the ball I'm through. I didn't see it coming. Was it a [deserved] red card? I've not seen it back. I don't know if he meant it or not. But it was better for us for them to go down to 10 men.

"They [the 10 men of Wolves] were unreal. They caused us all kind of problems. The manager made a few subs. That helped settle the game down."

It’s been pretty entertaining despite the lack of goals. Neto’s been forced into a couple of good saves, but Bournemouth are holding their own. Certainly work for both sides to do, but Newcastle really have been knocking on the door towards half-time.
