Manny: There is no midfield. I feel like United fans have been saying this for at least 2 years now.

Robin: As continuously said for many seasons now, Man Utd midfield (still) isn’t good enough. Where is Bruno and McTominay to help a defensively unsteady Eriksen that gave an eternity to De Bruyne to play that assist? No pressure no control.

Erling Haaland (2) is now the top Norwegian scorer in Manchester derbies in the top-flight. Ole Gunnar Solkjaer netted once for United.

He scored his 12th and 13th Premier League goal of the season, in his eighth appearance - a record for most goals after the first eight games.

Can he become the first player to score three successive hat-tricks in home matches in the Premier League?

Tim: Wow. The only way to stop Haaland scoring is a transfer to Chelsea... (Chelsea fan)

Mahesh: It's good if Haaland keeps scoring like this, he will get bored soon and leave early rather than wait 2.5 years.

As a first half of football, that has to be right up there. Manchester City have been simply magnificent.

Pep Guardiola's side were outstanding before but the addition of Erling Haaland puts their threat level on another dimension.

Manchester United have looked defeated from the first minute but what a standard of football we have seen here from Haaland, Kevin De Bruyne and Phil Foden to name but three.

How many can City get? Can Haaland get another home hat-trick?

Larry: Dinner is served. KDB is cooking.

Teflon Don: Man City went and bought a monster. Haaland is a force of nature, an act of God.

Doug: I hope Kane and Son are enjoying that goal/assist partnership record while it lasts. At this rate Haaland and De Bruyne will have it by the middle of next season.

Saidmadrid: City tearing apart United now...when City smells blood, they don't let go...

Andrew: The De Bruyne / Haaland link-up could dominate club football for the next 4 or 5 seasons.

Gee Em: Oh dear, you have just had Haaland score two, and now your tallest defender gets replaced to have your two smallest CB on.... good luck Man Utd, you're going to need it.

Manchester United have been dreadful to put it lightly. Manchester City have been sublime. Every time they go forward, they look like they're going to score. Erling Haaland, Phil Foden, Kevin de Bruyne, Jack Grealish - they have been fantastic so far.

This is absolutely embarrassing for Manchester United. It's brilliant play from City but United aren't helping themselves. Man City... What a team.

    Phil Foden (43 mins)

Wow. This is beautiful from Manchester City.

Kevin de Bruyne plays in Erling Haaland on the left. He slides it across the box perfectly for Phil Foden and he does the rest.

It's two for Foden, it's four for Man City and it's surely game over at the Etihad with 43 minutes played.

This is getting horribly messy for Manchester United. Erling Haaland is a phenomenon but what a ball from Kevin De Bruyne.

    It's just unstoppable. Outstanding.
