    Leicester 3-0 Nottingham Forest

Forest boss Steve Cooper has to do something - so how about a triple substitution at the break? On Remo Freuler, Ryan Yates and Serge Aurier, off Cheikhou Kouyate, Lewis O'Brien and Neco Williams.

Just the one change for Leicester - Boubakary Soumare for Wilfred Ndidi.

    And we're back under way.

Paul: I’m a huge Cooper fan, and I want to stick with him no matter what. But after 17 days of training (and no drastic team changes), to look this tactically inept is a massive, massive concern. Is this supposed to be Plan A?

Simon: Can’t believe anyone could be suggesting Cooper to be sacked. He got them up from nowhere. Deserves the full season in charge.

Alistair: Love Cooper with every fibre of my being but I just worry it's not going to work quickly enough. We built so much momentum and we fed off of it all season, now its gone and frailties are being exposed left right and centre.

Chris: Really thought Forest would fare better than this. Good club, good fans but this isn’t working. Could be down before the decorations.

    HT: Leicester 3-0 Nottingham Forest

Can James Maddison, who has one England cap from back in 2019, make a late push to get in Gareth Southgate's Three Lions squad for the World Cup in Qatar?

Southampton's James Ward-Prowse may well be getting nervous.

  4. Postpublished at 20:57 British Summer Time 3 October 2022

    HT: Leicester 3-0 Nottingham Forest

Leicester are unbeaten in their last 21 English Premier League matches when leading at half-time (won 18, drew three) dating back to 12 July, 2020 against Bournemouth (lost 1-4).

  5. Five on target, three goalspublished at 20:56 British Summer Time 3 October 2022

    HT: Leicester 3-0 Nottingham Forest

Five shots on target for Leicester and three of them have ended up in Dean Henderson's net. Hitting the post doesn't count officially as a shot on target so Forest have no shots on target.

There's been a lot of bickering amongst the Forest players, so I wonder if the players aren't quite sure what they're doing.

In fact, confusion is the word I'd use because nobody seems to know what they're going to do when they have the ball.

They've been a complete shambles and Leicester are taking advantage of it!

  7. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:50 British Summer Time 3 October 2022

    Leicester 3-0 Nottingham Forest

What a 45 minutes of football, thoroughly enjoyable for everyone apart from Forest fans.

The visitors actually had a great chance to open the scoring against the run of play but Taiwo Awoniyi saw his effort bounce back off the foot of the post.

James Maddison then got the first goal of the game a few minutes later, after Jesse Lingard had lost possession. Harvey Barnes curled in a superb second a few minutes later before Maddison scored again, Leicester's third in a 10-minute spell, with a top-class free-kick.

    Leicester 3-0 Nottingham Forest

Sacking a manager in Steve Cooper who took them from bottom of the Championship table when appointed after seven matches of the season last September, into the Premier League with a squad full of loan players would be one of the harshest sackings possible.

But this is football. Success doesn't last long in the memory.

David: Sean Dyche will be Forest manager by the time the World Cup begins.

Richard: As a Forest fan, I'm cringing at the defending. The season started brightly but the team seems to be going backwards instead of gelling. Cooper on borrowed time.

Joe: The Nottingham Forest manager may not survive this. What do you do? Buy another 21 players?

  10. Postpublished at 41 mins

    Leicester 3-0 Nottingham Forest

Forest have been stunned, conceding three times in 10 minutes.

We've hardly seen the incredibly skilful Brennan Johnson, but he gets involved now by setting up Jesse Lingard but the England midfielder, at fault for Leicester's first goal, can only see his shot charged down and not reach Danny Ward.

When James Maddison's free-kick went in, Steve Cooper's arms slipped off his knees and his head dropped in despair.

These are pretty desperate times for Nottingham Forest, whose early season optimism is giving way to a very grim reality.

The question is, will Cooper be given the chance to turn the situation round.

The Leicester fans are singing 'sacked in the morning'.

    Forest look absolutely stunned.

Where has this Leicester been all season?

GOAL - Leicester 3-0 Nottingham Forestpublished at 35 mins

    James Maddison

Two for James Maddison, three for Leicester and delight for the Foxes, whose spell at the bottom of the table is going to end tonight.

The free-kick is 25 yards out, central and perfect for Maddison. He strikes it superbly, the ball clips the inside of the post and Leicester 3-0 ahead and in dreamland.

Dave: Schmeichel left too late for us to secure a quality 'keeper like Henderson'. We should give Iversen a chance to shine.

    David: Lingard does what?

Mark: Credit where credit’s due, the Leicester players look like they’re playing for the badge and an under pressure manager. You can’t say that about certain other other teams recently

    The Leicester fans are ecstatic.

Chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha has a smile of satisfaction, manager Brendan Rodgers is leaping around in his technical area.

By contrast, the Forest fans are silent and manager Steve Cooper is fuming.

Leicester in crisis? What crisis? They're on fire!

Forest don't know what's hit them, whenever they pick the ball up they don't know where they're going. They look an absolute mess.

Leicester on the other hand, this has been 10/10, the only thing you can criticise them for, is that it's not 5-0! They're flying.

GOAL - Leicester 2-0 Nottingham Forestpublished at 27 mins

    Harvey Barnes

Two goals in three minutes for Leicester, just after Nottingham Forest hit the post and nearly took the lead.

This is a lovely goal from Harvey Barnes. He collects the ball on the edge of the penalty area, takes a touch to shift it on to his right foot and produces a beautiful, curling effort that flies past Dean Henderson.

The home fans have had very little to celebrate in 2022-23, but their side are 2-0 up on their near rivals and on course for their first league win of the season. Party time at the King Power.
