Wilfried Zaha's well-taken winner capped a classy Crystal Palace comeback as the Eagles recorded back-to-back home victories by beating managerless Wolves.

Adama Traore's header earned the visitors a deserved half-time lead that was almost doubled when Ruben Neves hit the post right on the stroke of half-time at Selhurst Park.

But Palace never looked back once Eberechi Eze nodded them level from Michael Olise's pinpoint cross just 63 seconds into the second half.

Zaha then took Odsonne Edouard's pass in his stride before drilling past Jose Sa for his fifth goal of the season to lift Palace up to 10th place in the Premier League table.

Wolves, linked with former Ajax and Borussia Dortmund boss Peter Bosz as the latest name in their search for a successor to Bruno Lage, remain 17th, just one point above the relegation places.

They came close to rescuing a point in London but Neves' late strike was superbly beaten away by Palace goalkeeper Vicente Guaita.

  4. Brighton held by strugglers Nottingham Forest - read the reportpublished at 22:56 British Summer Time 18 October 2022

Brighton's winless run under new boss Roberto de Zerbi continued with a frustrating Premier League draw against strugglers Nottingham Forest.

The Italian is the first Brighton manager to fail to win any of his first four league games since Barry Lloyd in 1987.

The results sees Brighton stay seventh after stuttering in recent weeks, picking up just two points from four games since the departure of Graham Potter to Chelsea.

However, quite how the hosts did not manage to win will mystify and exasperate the new man at the helm.

De Zerbi's side were dominant throughout and spurned several gilt-edged chances against a Forest side that appeared happy to try to contain their opponents.

Leandro Trossard saw a powerful effort cannon back off the crossbar and was twice denied by good saves from Dean Henderson.

Both Adam Webster and Joel Veltman missed glaring opportunities from close range and Henderson came to Forest's rescue again late on, his superb save from Pascal Gross ensuring that Steve Cooper's men climb off the bottom of the table.

  5. 'I can't fault the spirit'published at 22:55 British Summer Time 18 October 2022

    FT: Crystal Palace 2-1 Wolves

    Wolves

Wolves caretaker manager Steve Davies to Amazon Prime: "If we had started the second half better, it could have been a different result.

"We started slow, they put us under pressure and then we didn't re-group. We need to learn to ride that period through because if we had then it might have been a different resuult.

"I'm disappointed but happy with a lot of aspects of the game. Our shape and plan was good, but they pushed higher in the second half and defensively we didn't handle their break.

"On the whole I can't fault the spirit and we gave it our best go.

"Spirit is something we've got to find more of."

  6. 'Today was an important game for us'published at 22:54 British Summer Time 18 October 2022

    Crystal Palace 2-1 Wolves

    Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace boss Patrick Vieira to BBC Sport: "We scored two goals against a really good side. The first half was an even game. Going 1-0 down was hard on us. We showed character and quality and won the game. I was happy with the attitude we showed.

"The tempo in the first half was good. We had more determination in the second half. We kept the tempo high and that allowed us to score the early goal that gave us confidence and belief.

"We put a lot of emphasis on having people inside the box. I’m really glad. Today was an important game for us. We managed to win and that’s good.

"We need to try to score first, especially when we create chances. But we showed character. To perform in the Premier League this is part of the game, to show resilience and character. Nobody hid at 1-0 down. We can build something from that performance today.

"I think we are still far [from where they want to be]. We still have a long way to go. We have young players who need to learn the game. Everything wasn’t perfect today. But we showed some good elements and can build on that."

  7. 'We were excellent for large chunks'published at 22:51 British Summer Time 18 October 2022

    FT: Crystal Palace 2-1 Wolves

    Wolves

Wolves caretaker boss Steve Davis to BBC Sport: “The first half was excellent. The plan was good. We deserved to go in 1-0 up, maybe 2-0 if the free-kick had gone in. That was a key moment.

“We didn’t start the first 15 minutes of the second half well and paid the price. We kept going, showed some spirit and quality, had some opportunities. We took some risks. I can’t fault the effort the players put in. We were excellent for large chunks of the game.

I thought we deserved a point. We took the game to them. The first 15 minutes of the second half was key and we didn’t get that right.

“We’d been talking about him [Adama Traore] getting to the back post. He’s doing that now. It [the goal] was the best move of the game for us. Excellent goal. It could have been different if we stated the second half different.

"Hugo [Bueno] had a fantastic debut. He was excellent. He came as a kid from Spain as a 10 and we converted him to wing-back. Full-back today. Rayan [Ait-Nouri] was ill so we made a late situation change. He didn’t let anyone down.”

On whether he knows what his future is: “Not really. We’ll be back in Thursday and see what happens then.

"It’s been brilliant. For me personally it’s been a short journey but an exceptionally enjoyable one. We’ve tried to lift the spirits and get the players on our side. I think they’re on the right road. I see some good signs. Hopefully they can show that next week if I’m still in charge.”

  10. 'The early goal built the confidence to go and win'published at 22:44 British Summer Time 18 October 2022

    FT: Crystal Palace 2-1 Wolves

    Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace manager Patrick Vieria speaking to Amazon Prime: "I was disappointed at half-time because we didn't deserve to be 1-0 down.

"We came back out with a good attitude and determination. We pushed for a higher tempo and then the early goal built the confidence to go and win.

"We're delighted. First-half we were a bit static, but then we had more tempo and movement which allowed us to combine and score those goals.

"We have players who are capable of scoring goals and it's important to build on these performances and for me to be demanding on them now.

"The biggest challenge for us is to be consistent. We have to keep challenging and working with the players."

  11. 'Eze and Zaha were involved in Palace's best chances'published at 22:43 British Summer Time 18 October 2022

    FT: Crystal Palace 2-1 Wolves

    James Collins
Former Wales defender on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra

Eze was superb as well. He scored the goal and was involved in everything good going forward. Credit to Wolves, they had a go and came here to try and win the game.

Palace defended well when they had to and when they won the ball back they got it to their attacking players and the players who are going to create chances.

Eze and Zaha both scored tonight and they were involved in everything good that Palace did. It was a really well fought Premier League game.

  12. 'This is a confident group'published at 22:42 British Summer Time 18 October 2022

    FT: Brighton 0-0 Nottingham Forest

    Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest manager Steve Cooper, speaking to Amazon Prime: "We need to focus on the positives, Brighton are a good team that have been built over the years and that showed tonight.

"It's a good point and a clean sheet away from home. If we had a few more points on the board it would be even better.

"To be on the road we're on, to show fight and passion to the game plan is the main thing. They weren't kicking their teeth out there over last week's result. This is a confident group tying to get better.

"It's progress. If we take the game in isolation then we have to be happy with a point. We have to take this positive through to Liverpool now.

"If we had more points on the board then it would be a great point but this is probably just a good point."

  13. 'I'm thinking about the improvements I can do'published at 22:40 British Summer Time 18 October 2022

    FT: Brighton 0-0 Nottingham Forest

    Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton manager Roberto de Zerbi speaking to Amazon Prime: "We played well in a big game. I don't want to speak about the result as if it's unfair or unlucky.

"Today I've enjoyed watching this game, I'm sorry for the result because it's not a win but I can't say anything more.

"I say thank you to Forest because they played a fantastic game.

"I'm now thinking about the improvements I can do. We have to work on the last 20 metres for sure, to decide the best solution in the last 25 metres and to work on creating more solutions in creative space."

On facing Manchester City this weekend: "Manchester City play another sport in terms of quality football.

"But if you want to achieve the best mentality you have to play the game against City like any other team.

"I'm not speaking about no respect but we have to build our mentality and to give that one step more."

  14. 'This is what it takes'published at 22:38 British Summer Time 18 October 2022

    FT: Crystal Palace 2-1 Wolves

    Crystal Palace

Palace forward Wilfried Zaha: "We had to dig deep. We were playing well in the first half but the goal was a massive blow.

"We had to keep going. This is what it takes in the Prem. We knew we had it within us and we got what we deserved.

"I took it upon myself to move from left wing and float a bit. It opened up room for Tyrick. It made a confusion in their defence, who to go to, and that opened them up a bit."

  15. 'Selhurst Park a great place to play your football'published at 22:36 British Summer Time 18 October 2022

    FT: Crystal Palace 2-1 Wolves

    James Collins
Former Wales defender on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra

It's down to the team to get the fans behind them. It was bouncing.

That's the support they get. When you see a performance from your team like Palace this evening, the excitement, the chances created, the goals they've scored.

When things are going well and the boys are attacking, it's a great place to play your football.

  16. 'With the quality we've got we'll always score goals'published at 22:34 British Summer Time 18 October 2022

    FT: Crystal Palace 2-1 Wolves

    Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace centre-midfielder Eberechi Eze speaking to Amazon Prime: "The energy from the boys was just great, we gave everything and with the quality we've got we'll always score goals. Thankfully it paid off in the end.

"We just wanted to do more of the same in the second-half, doing our stuff but it was just final details that needed perfecting. We knew if we kept our energy up then it would pay off in the end."

On the atmosphere at Selhurst Park: "Just beautiful. They don't know how powerful they are and how much energy they give us."

  17. 'Every man ran their socks off'published at 22:31 British Summer Time 18 October 2022

    FT: Brighton 0-0 Nottingham Forest

    Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Dean Henderson, speaking to Amazon Prime: "Every point is valuable, so is a clean sheet and tonight the boys were warriors.

"Every man ran their socks off. I'm so proud of them all.

"We've conceded a lot of goals so far this season so the manager said we need to stop that and build on that foundation. In the last couple of games I haven't been that busy but I was tonight."

On whether this will help build their confidence: "I think for sure it will and we're a better unit now. We're working hard, so hopefully we can keep it going and the goals will come at the other end."

Shows how poor the ref has been tonight. Favoured Palace all night, even blew the whistle early! Zaha is overrated but gets the favour of the officials. Dives around but commits the same fouls and gets away with it. Joke.

    FT: Crystal Palace 2-1 Wolves

Wolves being manager less is not an ideal situation for the club. Neves hit the post literally on the half time whistle. They had a go.

The sooner the manager situation sorted out for this team, the better. We were raving about how good Palace were but Wolves will go away and look at this game and pick out some good moments.

In the last 10 minutes they didn't surrender and take the loss, they had a go right till the final whistle.

  20. 'A good point'published at 22:26 British Summer Time 18 October 2022

    FT: Brighton 0-0 Nottingham Forest

    Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest manager Steve Cooper to BBC Sport: "It's a good point. Brighton are a good team. They've been put together over a number of years. I can see why they are where they are in the league.

"If we had more points on the board it would be a great point. But we’re striving for that win. We have to look at what we did well. It’s progress. A small step forward.

"Fair play to the players. We should have drawn against Wolves but we lost. That can deflate a group especially on a run like ours. But for the lads to show the togetherness and willingness to keep a clean sheet, they're committed to getting to the level we want to be at to compete in this league. We know where we are. The points tally is nowhere near what we’d like. It’s a good base to build from.

"I know we’re not creating loads of chances and having loads of territory. That’s what we want to build up to. We had moments. Some of our build-up play was good in the first half. We know we have to do more defending this season but we have to look after the ball when we have it. Dean’s made one great save but there has not been loads of attempts for him to look after."

On their fans: "Standard for our supporters. They dominated a stadium again away from home. I’m glad we have them something to go home with. It’s not where we want to be as a team but it’s where we’re at now."
