Nice evening for a chinwag on the grass.

David Moyes and Jurgen Klopp, like a pair of dog-walkers in the park, stop for a gossip on the Anfield pitch.

    "How's the family, Jurgen?"

"Been another mad day at Westminster, hasn't it David?"

Not sure they'll be engaging in the usual chit-chat.

No, we can probably guess what football matters they are discussing...

Credit to the West Ham fans who have made the trip up to Liverpool on a midweek night.

Especially when you consider the Hammers' record at Anfield. They have only earned one win there since September 1963.

The goalscorers that day in a 2-1 win for the visitors?

Martin Peters and Geoff Hurst for the Hammers, with Roger Hunt pulling a goal back.

We all know what that trio went on to achieve...

Jurgen Klopp was shown a red card in Sunday's hot-tempered win over Manchester City but will be in the dugout for West Ham.

The Liverpool boss has been charged by the Football Association after berating a referee's assistant when a foul was not given for a challenge on Mohamed Salah.

He has until Friday to respond to the charge and will be allowed to take his place in the technical area tonight.

"Wow! When Anfield is like it was on Sunday it is the most incredible place. If it didn't exist, someone would have to invent it because that kind of passion is what football was made for," writes Klopp in his programme notes.

"I think the English word for it is intoxicating. It literally makes you feel like anything is possible and that through sheer power of will, enthusiasm and emotion you can affect things for the better."

Huge cheer as Liverpool's squad walk out onto the Anfield pitch for the first time tonight.

Everton boss Frank Lampard has praised the rebuilding job done by Eddie Howe at Newcastle.

"They've got a really good team with a fantastic manager and staff," he said. "They've got really good players and a clear vision for what they're doing. They've got a great director of football and have recruited really well.

"I really like the fact they are hard-working and robust as well as having all the quality. It will be a very tough match with a big atmosphere.

"It's up to us to show some personality."

The Magpies have faced criticism over their owners' links to the Saudi state but the former Chelsea and Manchester City midfielder said "everyone has a different perspective" and "it's the reason we embrace the Premier League".

"I lived the Chelsea story and touched on it as a City player," he said.

"You see the good they have done, particularly City, who I saw won Club of the Year at the Ballon d'Or awards.

"There's an argument about whether we can compete because Newcastle can spend £200m over two windows and we can't but that's just the way it is."

Newcastle were a little unlucky not to win at Old Trafford and they seem to have found a good balance in their team.

Defensively they are sound and they also had a few chances against Manchester United - you can see why they are in the top six, and they probably should have even more points than they do.

Everton have lost their past two games and I can see them struggling here too.

    Prediction: 2-0

"The Premier League is tough but I know he [Duje Caleta-Car] has the quality to help us and I'm sure he can lead us today in the experience. His leadership will be key to helping us tonight.

"We are absolutely looking forward to this game. We know it is a derby and we're coming here to take the three points.

"We're all under pressure each week. You have to take the points in the Premier League - it is possible in every game but every game is tough. If we play at our best I think we're capable of taking the points from here."

Social media reared its ugly side once again on Friday when Brentford striker Ivan Toney received racial abuse after scoring two goals in the win over Brighton.

Manager Thomas Frank said: "First and foremost I know the club have done everything they can to help and support Ivan.

"I think all that abuse is a disgrace in every aspect. No matter if it’s just one out of a billion, it’s still not good enough and we need to do everything we can to keep educating people to what kind of world we are living in.

"We are doing our best to do that and I think everyone should do that. Of course it was not nice, it was not good, but Ivan is a strong character.

"It’s not about what one stupid person not knowing anything about the world is saying, it’s what his loved ones and everyone else thinks about him."

Jurgen Klopp - Man City comments were not xenophobic

Several storylines emerged from Liverpool's dramatic win over Manchester City on Sunday, including Reds manager Jurgen Klopp having to defend his comments about City's spending power.

Before the game, Klopp said reigning Premier League champions City - who are owned by Sheikh Mansour - could "do what they want financially".

It drew accusations his comments were 'borderline xenophobic', with the German saying he would "hate it" if they were seen that way.

When asked if he thought they were xenophobic, Klopp replied: "In this specific case, I don't feel it at all."

Will Liverpool back up their fine win over Manchester City and secure back-to-back Premier League victories for only the second time this season?

It's too early to say if the real Liverpool are back but Sunday's win has certainly lifted the mood at Anfield ahead of West Ham's visit.

Stuart Attwell is taking charge of this fixture. His last Anfield visit saw the Reds thrash Bournemouth 9-0 back in August.

As for West Ham, they have conceded 16 in their previous six visits to Liverpool, while David Moyes has not won in 17 top-flight away games against the Reds.

Is tonight the night Moyes silences Anfield?
