You won't miss Reece James in the stands. He's got green hair and is wearing a massive green jacket. It is arguably the most interesting thing I've seen so far in this game, which is yet to really spark.

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has registered his approval for his team's start on a few occasions from his technical area and they have certainly looked lively going forward.

Antony is a real danger when he gets within shooting range and has already brought Chelsea keeper Kepa into the action with a fine save. No serious work for his opposite number David de Gea as yet.

That was a brilliant save from Kepa. I think it was going in. Brilliant and strong hand from Kepa who have been in magic form since he came back.

    Chelsea 0-0 Man Utd

The game is opening up as Raphael Varane makes a crucial block to cut out Mason Mount's cross with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang lurking behind the Manchester United defender.

  5. CLOSE!published at 12 mins

    Chelsea 0-0 Man Utd

Kepa is a bit unsure about a shot on the turn by Antony, which might have just been sneaking into the bottom corner so the Chelsea goalkeeper pushes behind.

The corner is played short to Jadon Sancho, whose dangerous ball flies just past the far post.

Brilliant move that. The reason they got in Shaw was down the left side but it was Sancho's movement, he just took Chalobah inside so Shaw was free.

    Chelsea 0-0 Man Utd

Ten minutes in and I'd say Manchester United have edged things so far. They've had the only real chance of the game and are looking good when they attack down the flanks.

  8. Postpublished at 9 mins

    Chelsea 0-0 Man Utd

There's a pause in play with Chelsea skipper Cesar Azpilicueta down injured after getting caught by Jadon Sancho. After a minute or two, Azpilicueta is OK to get up and continue.

  9. CLOSE!published at 7 mins

    Chelsea 0-0 Man Utd

First real chance of the game goes Manchester United's way.

The visitors play some nice one-touch passing to play their way through the Chelsea midfield and send Luke Shaw away in space down the left. He sizes up a shot and lets fly from the edge of the box and the ball fizzes just wide of the far post.

  10. Postpublished at 5 mins

    Chelsea 0-0 Man Utd

Antony tries an acrobatic flick to get away from Ben Chilwell on the right but it doesn't quite come off.

Manchester United are pressing high and suddenly Chelsea break through Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang but his cross is too long. Chance gone.

    Chelsea 0-0 Man Utd

Erik ten Hag shakes his head in disapproval of something. Haven't seen too much for him to be unhappy with yet, neither side dominating the early stages as they sound each other out.

The players are out on the pitch and the managers are in their respective dugouts.

Chelsea are still unbeaten under Graham Potter while the visitors have not lost since the Manchester derby.

    Should be a cracker!

  14. 'Everything was missing'published at 17:28 British Summer Time 22 October 2022

    FT: Everton 3-0 Crystal Palace

    Emma Sanders
    BBC Sport at Goodison Park

We have just heard from Crystal Palace boss Patrick Vieira in his press conference.

He described the performance as "bad" and that "everything" went wrong for his side.

"We didn’t play, we didn’t compete and we made it easy for Everton. Everything was missing in our game today," he added.

“This is the first time that I have a bad feeling about the way we perform. We let ourselves down.

"We were second-best in every department of the game. In the end we got what we deserved."

  15. 'The numbers are incredible'published at 17:28 British Summer Time 22 October 2022

    FT: Manchester City 3-1 Brighton

    Manchester City

More from Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola, who says: "A really tough game, one of the toughest but I can't complain about my team.

"Brighton played man to man and it's not really easy, with the ball they are really, really good.

On Erling Haaland, Guardiola says: "Obviously the numbers are incredible and there's no doubt about his quality. He's not the best [striker he's worked with, saying Lionel Messi is] but one of the best I've faced for sure.

"He is so ambitious and he helped us win the game."

  16. 'We were second best in every department'published at 17:27 British Summer Time 22 October 2022

    FT: Everton 3-0 Crystal Palace

    Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace manager Patrick Vieira speaking to Match of the Day, says: "It was a bad performance from us. I think we were second best in every department of the game and we saw a team who played with determination to win the game and we didn’t match that level. It was a bad team performance.

"We didn’t start well at all and we lost the ball in our own half. The way we recovered wasn’t aggressive enough. Today was a bad day for us.

"We have to understand that we weren’t the best team when we won our last game and we are not the lowest team when we lost today. We analysed the consistency that we need and we didn’t have that and we have to keep working. We didn’t help ourselves with a performance like that today."

On whether away form is a problem: "It’s something we have to look at but again we aren’t going to throw everything away. It was a bad day today and we have to keep working hard."

  17. 'One of the toughest games'published at 17:26 British Summer Time 22 October 2022

    Manchester City 3-1 Brighton

    Manchester City

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola, speaking to Match of the Day, says: "They decided to play a game man to man on the pitch and we were lucky to have the quality for the third goal.

"We struggled a bit, it's one of the toughest games you could face at the moment but the three points after the defeat at Anfield.

"With the ball they have incredible quality and the two guys in the middle - they are a really good team.

"In those moments we have to be resilient and knew the game would be tough until the end. Kevin [De Bruyne] scored a goal that was magnificent but we would fight to the end to avoid the draw or defeat but sometimes it is important to understand the game we have to play."

  18. 'The first half we were a little afraid'published at 17:25 British Summer Time 22 October 2022

    FT: Manchester City 3-1 Brighton

    Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton manager Roberto de Zerbi, speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "We played a good game against one of the most of the important teams in the Premier League, Europe and the world - but we lost.

"I think in the first half we were a little afraid and then the second half maybe we changed the mentality. The players wanted to score a goal and open the game.

"We had a chance to score for 2-2 but in the second half we played very, very well."

On whether the VAR decision to give a penalty to Manchester City, from which they scored their second goal, was correct: "I don't know. My job is not to analyse the referee. I'm not happy but I don't want to speak too much about the referee, the decision or VAR.

"I want to analyse my team and the quality of my team. I believe if we continue to play in this level we will win many games."

  19. Postpublished at 17:20 British Summer Time 22 October 2022

Chelsea v Man Utd (17:30 BST)

Just over 10 minutes to go until kick off in what is a huge match for both sides. A win for Manchester United and they will leapfrog Chelsea into fourth, but a win for the Blues and they go four clear of Erik ten Hag's side.

  20. 'Not worried because we're creating chances'published at 17:17 British Summer Time 22 October 2022

    Manchester City 3-1 Brighton

    Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton winger Solly March on his side's spirited performance: "I think it is positive, in the second half we gave it a good go. The first two goals we conceded were a bit sloppy, but the goal from the Kevin de Bruyne was class and finished us off.

"We know Erling Haaland is strong and quick but we thought the first goal was still stoppable.

"If we play like we did today we be alright next week. It's frustrating not to score goals but the chances are there and if we put them away we will get points."

Is it worrying you've not won in five matches? "If we're not creating chances then it would be but we are creating them."

On facing former boss Graham Potter's Chelsea next: "It will be a big game, hopefully the fans will be up for it and give them a performance to be proud of. We will be up for it."
