  1. 'We want to bounce back and put things right'published at 17:15 British Summer Time 22 October 2022

    FT: Everton 3-0 Crystal Palace

    Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace defender Joel Ward says: "I don’t think we performed to where we wanted to be. It wasn’t at the level of the other night and we got punished for that. There are lessons to be learnt from today and we can put it right in the next game.

"We didn’t move the ball as well as we could have, we didn’t control the ball as we have in previous games. We will analyse it and regroup. The unique thing in this club is we have such a great cohesion in the dressing room and we want to bounce back and put things right come the next game."

  2. 'The third finished the game'published at 17:13 British Summer Time 22 October 2022

    Manchester City 3-1 Brighton

    Manchester City

Manchester City's Kevin de Bruyne, who scored their third goal, says: "The first half we had fully under control, we didn't let them play. We should've scored to make it 3-0 and they scored for 2-1. It was a bit tight in the game but obviously scoring the third finished the game.

"I got the ball from Bernardo [Silva], looked through the options, I was in space there, shot and it went in perfectly."

On team-mate Erling Haaland, De Bruyne adds: "He is there to score the goals and he is having a really good season. He has helped us win games.

"It's just the start, he is doing what he needs to do. The team is playing well for the moment so that's all we can do."

  3. 'Ronaldo has burnt his bridges'published at 17:12 British Summer Time 22 October 2022

Chelsea v Man Utd (17:30 BST)

    Rob Green
Former England goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live

I doubt Ronaldo plays for Man Utd again. It is brilliant for Ten Hag. He's gone, 'right, that's me done'.

You never close the door on anybody because you might need them, but he's got a few weeks left until the World Cup, then another week to wait for the January transfer window.

Thank you very much, go phone America and the MLS. It is a messy divorce but Ten Hag has waited for a moment. Ronaldo has burnt his bridges.

  4. 'Ronaldo's ego is showing up'published at 17:11 British Summer Time 22 October 2022

Chelsea v Man Utd (17:30 BST)

    Kevin Campbell
Former Everton and Arsenal striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

The Manchester United game ended up being about Cristiano Ronaldo, when it was really a fantastic team performance.

Ronaldo still thinks he is the main man. He wants to play, he wants to prove it. He just scored his 700th goal to get his side over the line against Everton. As far as he's concerned, he is the guy.

He isn't that player anymore, but Erik ten Hag has a problem to deal with Ronaldo's ego is showing up.

  6. 'It's been a long time coming'published at 17:07 British Summer Time 22 October 2022

    FT: Everton 3-0 Crystal Palace

    Everton

Everton goalscorer Dominic Calvert-Lewin: "We did [need that win]. It's a great feeling to be back at Goodison. For the team and for myself to get the win today it went exactly how I hoped. It’s been a while, one I’ve been waiting for, one I’ve been looking forward to and I felt like myself today. It’s been a long time coming but great to get the result."

On what the goal means: "Everything. As a striker you feed off confidence and you feed off goals so for me to get the goal today in the way that I did was nice to start the game that. A lot of hard work has gone into getting that first goal so I am over the moon."

On whether Gareth Southgate being in the stand was in the back of his mind: "It’s every boy's dream to go to the World Cup. I’ve been counting down the days to get back on the pitch and all I can do is play the best I can for Everton and score goals and see where that takes me. First and foremost it’s what I do here."

    Comfortable for City.

De Zerbi will be pleased with his team's second half. Credit to him, he tried to affect what City were doing, you can tell they are learning a new system and there were encouraging signs.

As soon as De Bruyne scored the third, it was game over.

Anon: Football hasn't been kind to Brighton today. They were brave, took risks and had a real go at City, but City had more goals than Brighton.

Rodri is my favourite player. He is fantastic.

He's the all-round central midfielder. He's got everything; he cruises through games.

One of the best players in the world.

This will be a fifth game without a win for Roberto de Zerbi since he took charge of Brighton, but he's had a tough introduction to life in the Premier League with games against Liverpool, Tottenham and now Manchester City.

Every time I've seen them they have played well, so still plenty for Brighton fans to be positive about.

    Dwight McNeil

    That will seal it.

Dwight McNeil starts and finishes it. He collects the ball tight to the left touchline, he has the skill and pace to ran at the visiting defence, he plays it into Alex Iwobi, who produces a lovely backheel to give it back to McNeil and he slots the finish away.
