Leeds captain Liam Cooper to BBC: "I'm angry, disappointed. We've let ourselves down. When we're on top we've got to take our chances and if you don't the pressure comes.

"Their goals were avoidable. We've got to be much better in those areas. We can't give teams chances like that and we've got to rectify that quickly.

"I understand the fans' anger, this club needs to be winning games and we're not doing that at the moment. We have to work hard and roll our sleeves up. We know what's expected of us and we've got to do that.

"We're fully behind the manager. We're all buying into his philosophy. We started well, got the first goal, then conceded a stupid goal - that's down to us. We've got to come out, fists flying, and get a result somewhere. We all have to take responsibility, as players, and get a performance for 90 minutes."

On playing Liverpool next: "It's a tough place to go but we have to do everything we can to get a result."

Southampton

Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl, speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "In the first half we were lucky only to be one goal down. After that, you saw what happens when you have belief.

"We had a few issues in the beginning with the shape, but we made some changes and coped better after that.

"Especially considering we were 1-0 down, it’s a good result."

Tottenham can't complain, they have been nowhere near it. Newcastle have been the better team and deserve this lead. There have been a few chances where Nick Pope made a few good saves. Their eight players apart from Kane and Son need to get forward and help them two. It was the same at Man United in midweek but credit to Newcastle, they've been outstanding.

Leeds manager Jesse Marsch to Sky Sports: "We had a good start but we find ways to hurt ourselves and give up goals that we shouldn't. You can see our confidence is not at it's highest and it comes down to basics again.

"We didn't defend well enough, we weren't ready for those moments. It's painful and we have to do better in those situations.

"I'm work tirelessly [for the players] to gain confidence, stay strong and keep pushing. We have to do better and I'm responsible for that.

"I'm here for the long term. I love this club, I'm investing everything I have to try to make us better."

Almiron chases a lost cause, forces Lloris into a mistake. Then the fans get on the backs of the Spurs players. Such great energy. Newcastle have been outstanding. Tottenham have to come out now.

Paul: Lloris to blame for both goals really. No clearance for first goal and a rubbish clearance for 2nd goal. This game is a prime example of why no major club has ever made an effort to sign Lloris even when a lot of them need a goalie. Too many errors in him.
