    Newcastle United

Newcastle boss Eddie Howe to BBC Sport: "We know where we are and what we are in the middle of. It's a very busy time. It was an outstanding performance and we scored some great goals. It was a bity first half and that didn't really suit us.

"We showed good energy in th second half and the goals made the difference."

On Callum Wilson's two goals in front of Gareth Southgate: "They have got to be taken. He is outstanding striker."

On Miguel Almiron's goal: "It was an incredible strike. He has got a great left foot. It was a pin-point finish. He never stopped and kept going."

Former England striker on Final Score

The Brighton fans have got to be upfront for their old manager [Graham Potter] coming back with a bigger club in stature and expectation.

They wanted to make it uncomfortable as much as possible. Potter came into this stadium and Brighton made much noise and made him feel uncomfortable. The same case for Marc Cucurella. The scene was set. We don't want you back here. You left us and we're going to let you know what you've left.

Everton's Alex Iwobi has provided five assists in his 12 Premier League appearances this season, one more than he had in his three previous campaigns combined with the Toffees. Can he make the difference again today?

  5. 'We lose together and will stand up again'published at 17:31 British Summer Time 29 October 2022

    FT: Crystal Palace 1-0 Southampton

    Southampton

Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl speaking to BBC Match of the Day:

"We tried the same what we did in the second half but didn't work in the first half. We had better chances and with the chances you have in the second half you must take something, we had the bigger ones for sure and we know we have to score them."

On what he changed in the second half: "Nothing, we did the same. Sometimes one player can make a difference, the first half we gave the ball away and came under pressure.

"Wonderful play [for the two chances] and the other very good situation where Che [Adams] can make a better situation. We win together and lose together and we will stand up again."

Battle between Lyanco and Wilfried Zaha: "It was a good duel in the end and Lyanco has to play the ball earlier, we are not looking on excuses for the referee, it was a bit early to get a yellow card it effects a centre-back but defensively he was good he did well until the end.

"In the beginning we tried the same things but in the second half we had the better balance and the better game with the ball."

  7. 'A painful lesson for us'published at 17:30 British Summer Time 29 October 2022

    FT: Brighton 4-1 Chelsea

    Chelsea

Chelsea manager Graham Potter, speaking to Sky Sports: "They played well, the atmosphere was really intense here. We didn’t necessarily match that level of intensity.

"We had some opportunities to test the keeper, but it was too open and Brighton were dangerous. We were pushing and pushing and throwing players on, but Brighton deserved it. You have to say congratulations to them.

"Brighton were better at what they did, so we have to take that as a lesson – even though that’s a painful one for us.

"You have to congratulate Brighton. The intensity was there and we suffered a little bit. The players are an honest bunch – we win and lose together – so we have to take stock and move forward."

  10. 'Fans were best player'published at 17:26 British Summer Time 29 October 2022

    FT: Brighton 4-1 Chelsea

    Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton manager Roberto de Zerbi to Sky Sports: "I am very happy for the players, for the club and the people working with our team and these great fans. They were the best player on the pitch. They helped us a lot and I am very happy.

"In the first 20-25 minutes we were fantastic. We played like men. We have a style and the first 20-25 minutes was fantastic, really fantastic.

"We prepared the team with one-to-ones. All players were fantastic.

"No I don't want to celebrate anything. Next Saturday there is another game and I am sorry for the Chelsea goal because in the second half we suffered a stupid goal and made a mistake. They changed their tactical position and we weren't ready to change something for us. But I'm happy because 4-1 against Chelsea is an amazing result."

  11. 'We had the better chances'published at 17:25 British Summer Time 29 October 2022

    FT: Crystal Palace 1-0 Southampton

    Southampton

Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl speaking to Sky Sports: "The opponent started very aggressive and we had a few problems with build-up in the first half. Second half we made one change and we were much better. When you see our chances in second half, we know that we have to score in these moments.

"In the first half we lost the ball a few times in midfield and that was a set back, in the second half we had more calmness on the ball and [played what we wanted to play. In the second half we created massive chances, Che [Adams] and Stuart [Armstrong], twice we hit the post. In away games when you don't score it's hard to get anything.

"We needed better clinical finishing, we know we had these chances today and we didn't score and I think we had the better ones.

"There's positive things but what hurts more? Not having chances or having chances and not scoring?"

On the goal: "Simple mistake from Lyanco he tries to play the ball out but on this level the opponent kills you for such a mistake."

    FT: Brighton 4-1 Chelsea

    Chelsea

    Graham PotterImage source, Getty Images

Chelsea manager Graham Potter: "Yes of course the scoreline and the defeat is a painful one. We didn't really recover. Once the crowd were so engaged it was a difficult one for us. The scorelline was painful. Brighton played a good game, especially in the first half.

"You can always look at goals and think you can do better. We have to take responsibility a bit in the first half. We have had a lot of football but that's no excuse. We couldn't quite get to that level. We didn't take our oopportunities in attack and they did.

"We had some opportunities to attack them too but unfortunately we missed the pass or didn't execute, then the scoreline was a painful one. When you lose you can always do better."

On boos from Brighton fans: "I have nothing to apologise or say sorry for. I think I did a good job at the club and left it in a good place but people are entitled to their opinions.

"It's part of the process. You have to suffer and feel pain in order to grow and get better. Nobody said we were the finished article. We have to take the pain today and learn from it."

  13. 'We were excellent in the first half'published at 17:22 British Summer Time 29 October 2022

    Brighton & Hove Albion

    Lewis DunkImage source, Getty Images

Brighton captain Lewis Dunk speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live: "It was an enjoyable game to play in, it's nice to get the first win under the new manager and thankfully we got the three points today.

"Sometimes you just have those starts and I think the crowd reaction today, if we have that more often at home we're going to perform like that and they were a massive part of the performance today. It was nice to hear the noise coming from them. Sometimes you just get a start and you get the momentum and it carries on through the first half. I thought it in the first half we were excellent.

"At 3-0 up we thought let's not let it slip! Going in at half-time at 3-0 up is nice but we have to score the next goal and they managed it and we were lucky that we hung on until the end.

"We still limited them to a few chances after they scored. Havertz had one, the pullback, and he put it over the bar. Other than that I can't really remember too many others.

"There's been a massive impact [since Roberto De Zerbi took charge] obviously we are still learning his ways and we are on the training pitch all together working as hard as we can for him and trying to take it on board. Obviously there is a language barrier sometimes with the interpreter but they have been excellent and the interpreter is excellent so we are getting there and I think we can see more and more improvements over the next coming weeks."

  14. 'We blew them away in second half'published at 17:19 British Summer Time 29 October 2022

    FT: Newcastle 4-0 Aston Villa

    Newcastle United

    Callum WilsonImage source, Getty Images

Newcastle forward Callum Wilson: "It was a great performance. For 35 minutes we were slow and were not really ourselves. It was becoming frustrating. In the second half we blew them away.

"To be honest I was frustrated [denied hat-trick when header hit bar]. It just wasn't going to happen. Nevertheless we got the three points. I got two goals and one assist. I will take that.

"We don't get carried away. We have to keep this form going. It was a fantastic club when I first joined but my first few games was in lockdown and I had no fans."

On his hopes of being called up by England for the World Cup: "I have said many times I will not talk my way into the squad. I will let my performances do the talking."

  15. 'I had to make sure to leave my mark'published at 17:18 British Summer Time 29 October 2022

Tottenham Hotspur goal scorer Ryan Sessegnon: "Obviously it was disappointing to be 2-0 down with some lapses in concentration but we knew if we scored one goal the momentum could switch and that is what happened today."

On nearly being substituted before his goal: "I had a little feeling as I looked over and saw him getting ready to come on but it is just one of them things that I had to make sure to leave my mark just before and thankfully I stayed on for a little bit longer.

"I have a good relationship with him [Conte] and I just try to be as consistent as I can for him."

  16. 'You could make a case for both teams to win'published at 17:16 British Summer Time 29 October 2022

    Fulham v Everton (17:30 BST)

    Chris Sutton's predictions

Everton have got something about them now under Frank Lampard but I have been really impressed with Fulham too, and I have written them off too many times this season.

Marco Silva's side are lively home or away and they will have a real go too - the battle between Aleksandar Mitrovic and James Tarkowski and Conor Coady will be a really good one.

You could make a case for both teams to win this one... so I am going for a draw.

    Sutton' s prediction: 1-1

  17. 'Everton are starting to grow'published at 17:13 British Summer Time 29 October 2022

    Fulham v Everton (17:30 BST)

    Alan Hutton
Former Scotland defender on BBC Radio 5 live

It's been a slow build for Everton but it's starting to come together now. Recruitment has been good, there are leaders at the back, they're always organising and they're slowly starting to grow.

We're looking at a strong team at the moment and hopefully they can kick on now because they've definitely got the players to do that.

You look at Alex Iwobi and players like that who are really thriving at this moment in time so they're in a good place at the moment.

  19. 'I'm thankful to Potter & Cucurella'published at 17:10 British Summer Time 29 October 2022

    FT: Brighton 4-1 Chelsea

    Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton captain Lewis Dunk to BBC: "It was a nice feeling to finally get three points for the new gaffer.

"It was strange. It was the first competitive game against [Graham Potter]. We dealt with their threats well and I thought we were outstanding in the first half. Overall we were the better team.

"We pressed well from the front and stopped them do what they do. We counter-attacked quickly and showed we could do it.

"Potter gave me a lot of help and improved me a lot. Hopefully the new manager can do more as well. We have already shown a lot in the last few games and hopefully we can keep improving.

"I'm thankful to both of them [Potter and Marc Cucurella]. They had an opportunity and chose to take it. That's football, everyone has to move at times."

  20. 'We deserved the win'published at 17:06 British Summer Time 29 October 2022

    FT: Crystal Palace 1-0 Southampton

    Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace goal scorer Odsonne Edouard: "Strange game because we started well in the first half, managed to score. Second half was difficult, Southampton pushed a lot. But we win the game and stay solid.

"We deserved the win, we scored first, kept a clean sheet, we deserved the win. Unlucky for first one [offside goal] but second one I was onside so all good.

"If we'd managed to score a second goal we would've made the game easy, we had to stay compact collectively but at the end we've got a clean sheet and three points so that's the important thing."

On the next game at Selhurst Park being on Boxing Day: "Very long time, important to win today in front of the fans, next game is in two months. Important points today."
