I'm not sure they do now. They're going to have to be a lot more ambitious and that will leave them open to be picked off.

Selfishly, my first thought [when Bukayo Saka went off injured] wasn't for Arsenal., it was for England. It seemed like more of an impact injury, I don't think it was a roll of the ankle. I may be wrong. But it seemed like an impact injury and ever since he got that early challenge from Lodi on the right wing, he just didn't seem comfortable.

He was ginger throughout, yes he created the goal but he had a couple of opportunities to get at the Nottingham Forest left-back and he decided not to and I could tell that his afternoon wasn't going to be long-lived and lo and behold, they did make a change and Reiss Nelson came on to replace him.

Nottingham Forest wouldn't have wanted to concede so early but they have stuck to their game plan, they have stayed in the game, they have dropped deep, they've been hard to beat. Off the back of that they have tried to get forward when the opportunity has arisen.

From an Arsenal perspective they have controlled this game, they have been quite clean and tidy in possession. They have been intricate and they have been fluid in their movement with the forward players especially. They just haven't been able to find that crucial second goal here.

With 15 minutes gone I thought I'd be writing at the break about Arsenal being two or three up.

Forest have dug in, though, and had a few little moments to really scare the home side.

The Gunners are firmly on top, but the longer it stays at just one, the more Forest will fancy playing on jangling nerves.

You don't get those chances vey often when you are Nottingham Forest and when you do, you have to take them.

Tell you what, Arsenal are just starting to dice with disaster here.

Gabriel plays the sloppiest of sloppy passes out of defence and into a crowded box, gifting the ball to Jesse Lingard. Thankfully, one of his team-mates is alert enough to get in there and block.

Soon after, from a free-kick, the ball is headed down in the box and two Forest players have a sniff before Aaron Ramsdale dives in and the flag goes up.
