Leicester goalkeeper Danny Ward on James Maddison: "I think he’ll be all right. I think he’s OK. He’s come in, got his goal. Hopefully touch wood all is well and he can show the world what he can do."

    Newcastle v Chelsea (17:30 GMT)

    Chris SuttonImage source, BBC Sport

    Sutton's prediction:1-0

The Gunners looked like a side who had an identity - while the Blues didn't appear to have a clear idea of what they would do when they came forward, or link up well at all.

Newcastle will stay in the top four whatever happens in this game, and they must be delighted with their recent results that have put them there, as well as the way they have been playing.

I think we will see more of the same here. I don't expect this to be a high-scoring game, but I am backing the Magpies to make it five league wins in a row.

    Jessica's prediction:2-2

Newcastle have been decent recently, and this should be a really good game.

    Olivia's prediction:1-2

Newcastle are going well and this will be close - but Chelsea to edge it.

  4. 'Takeover derby'published at 17:08 Greenwich Mean Time 12 November 2022

    Newcastle v Chelsea (17:30 GMT)

    Alistair Magowan
BBC Sport at St James' Park

St James' Park presents the takeover derby. Based on the last few months, Chelsea may be forgiven for an envious glance towards Tyneside.

In many ways for Newcastle, the only way was up. At this stage of last season, they were yet to win a league game. But many have been surprised by the rapid progress since, which has had as much to do with Eddie Howe’s stewardship as it has £200m spent on players across two windows.

Chelsea’s new owners spent £250m in one window last summer, but then sacked Thomas Tuchel, and Graham Potter has been working out his best team since. A break from a relentless schedule will probably do the former Brighton boss some good, but make no mistake; this is a key battle for a European place next season, maybe even a top four spot.

  6. 'Price tag was a heavy weight on Darwin'published at 17:07 Greenwich Mean Time 12 November 2022

    FT: Liverpool 3-1 Southampton

    Liverpool

Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold: "We've had a mixed start to the season, very disappointing results and some good ones. You need consistency in this league and we haven't shown that this season. Last week was a big win and we've followed it up this weekend."

On the World Cup break: "The break will suit some teams, not others. Some will go into the break with momentum and not pick it up afterwards. Others will have wanted it. It can go either way, we'll see when everyone comes back. All you can do is go in with a win and we've done that today."

On Darwin Nunez: "Definitely (he's shown growth since arriving). Coming over to the Premier League, with the price tag on his back, was going to be a heavy weight. It took him a few games to get going but we all saw in training the player he is.

"He's a proper centre-forward with speed but was playing on the wing today, he's versatile. We saw what he could do and he's hit a stride now, he's enjoying his football."

  7. 'Howe's demeanour is perfect for Newcastle'published at 17:06 Greenwich Mean Time 12 November 2022

    Newcastle v Chelsea (17:30 GMT)

    Ashley Williams
Former Wales captain on Football Focus

If we go back to when Eddie Howe got the job, there was so much talk about Newcastle. Every week we would come here and talk about Newcastle and the takeover stuff and he was the perfect person, he’s so calm.

He calmed everyone down, he steadied the ship, he brought steady but good players in and everything is just moving along smoothly so we’re going to see how long they can keep that going for.

There have been little tweaks with Joelinton changing position and he’s a very good coach. His whole demeanour is perfect for a club that had a lot of eyes on it at that time.

  8. 'Maddison walking around'published at 17:05 Greenwich Mean Time 12 November 2022

    FT: West Ham 0-2 Leicester

    Marc Webber
    Final Score at London Stadium

The best news West Ham fans had from this game was seeing England’s James Maddison walking around the dugout and the pitch after a suspected hamstring injury.

Because there was nothing for West Ham to cheer about their side’s performance - caught twice with poor defending on the counter and missing lots of chances themselves.

Leicester’s Maddison and Harvey Barnes benefited from that space to score the two goals that kept Leicester’s recent rise on track.

  9. 'Newcastle's squad is sprinkled with quality'published at 17:05 Greenwich Mean Time 12 November 2022

    Newcastle v Chelsea (17:30 GMT)

    Dion Dublin
Former England striker on Football Focus

I’ve always known Eddie Howe is right up there when it comes to coaching and he knows how to manage individuals. A bigger challenge was going to bring even more out of him. The players that he was taking on were a good bunch of players. However, the players that he’s brought in haven’t been ‘wow look who he’s bought.’

They’ve just been players of a very high quality but they just do a job. They just do a good job, in that position, very well which has made the team and the squad so much more secure and then he’s sprinkled a bit of quality in there as well. Very clever.

  10. 'Liverpool the better team'published at 17:02 Greenwich Mean Time 12 November 2022

Even though Southampton lost 3-1, Nathan Jones knows he will have to change and adapt but he seems to know how to do it.

Jones has learned a lot about his team so he will feel good but Liverpool were the better side.

  11. 'Fingers crossed Maddison is all right'published at 17:01 Greenwich Mean Time 12 November 2022

    FT: West Ham 0-2 Leicester

    Leicester City

Leicester's Harvey Barnes to Sky Sports on James Maddison's injury status: "I'm not sure at the minute. You probably know as much as I do. Fingers crossed he's all right. He deserves to be called up for the World Cup."

On not being in the England squad himself: "You feel like you're doing well but can only do what you're doing on the pitch. The squad has so much quality in it. Hopefully in the future there will be more opportunities for me."

  13. The best it's been for 19 yearspublished at 16:58 Greenwich Mean Time 12 November 2022

    Newcastle v Chelsea (17:30 GMT)

Eddie Howe recently celebrating one year in charge of Newcastle and what a 12 months it has been for the manager and his club.

When Howe took over, Newcastle had taken just 33 points from their previous 38 games. Such a points haul over last season would have relegated them.

Howe’s Newcastle have taken 69 points from their last 38 games. That would have seen them qualify for the Champions League last season.

Here are the best performing Premier League teams since Howe took charge of the Magpies...

The last time Newcastle took 69 points over 38 Premier League games was way back in May 2003, when goals from Jermaine Jenas and Hugo Viana saw Newcastle draw 2-2 at West Brom on the final day to finish the season 3rd with 69 points.

In short, this is as good as Newcastle have been for 19 years.

A bit shout out to BBC Sport's Chris Collinson for doing the research into this.

James Maddison is on the pitch chatting to players afterwards, including Jarrod Bowen, who you have to imagine was one of his rivals for a World Cup place.

If it was a bad injury he surely wouldn't be walking round the gaff talking to everyone would he?
